Blurb

Gutsy and stubborn 24 year old Trinity Parker is more than thrilled when she lands a job in a top New York fashion store, crunching numbers in the back office. As luck would have it, it’s on her first day there that she ends up heroically foiling a robbery. Or so she thinks.

The man she thought was stealing, Dimitri DuPont, a handsome and rich distinguished gentleman, insists Trinity apologizes to him for her assumptions. In fact, he demands more.

Dimitri is a man one cannot say no to. So she doesn’t. She succumbs.

Soon, her life becomes a tangled web full of lies and deceit and Dimitri DuPont, the one person who’s been there through it all, takes her out of her comfort zone and leads her on a voyage of discovery.

Will he be the anchor that she needs or the catalyst that blows her world apart?

My Review

Sexy, suspenseful and emotionally charged! 5 stars

This is the first book that I have read by Alexandra Iff and I found it to be sexy, suspenseful and very emotional read which got right to the heart of the characters.

Once started I could not put it down. I particularly loved the hero and heroine – their first encounter in particular is so intense and memorable! Both Trinity and Dimitri are characters with very human foibles, having issues from their past, yet they are just SO good together. Trinity is an auditor and has a well-deserved reputation for being bloody good at what she does. She finds people a little more challenging however: she does not date or do relationships with the opposite sex and trust does not come easy.

And Dimitri – I fell in love with him! He is a drop dead gorgeous, enigmatic, businessman and after he meets Trinity he will just not take no for an answer, despite her stubborness. I very much enjoyed their verbal sparring and Dimitri has his work cut out. Trinity’s life is very soon rocked on her axis and Dimitri seems to be her perfect half. Yet there is more to him than meets the eye. Has he been fooling her all along and just how much can he be trusted and what is he hiding? Who is the real Dimitri? Can Trinity’s heart cope with the truth?

The read is both sexy and sweet, containing a number of sizzling scenes – Dimitri is an alpha male who likes to be in control and Trinity is the lucky recipient of his ministrations! It is clear that Trinity has affected him in ways no other woman has before and I loved how he constantly pushes against her barriers to get to know her, despite her resistance. I was rooting for them throughout the story, whilst at the same time wanting to know just what was going on behind the scenes. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, particularly Kelly, Trinity’s BFF and Tom, Trinity’s neighbour.

The author expertly pulls all of the threads together into a satisfying conclusion, although the emotional ride is a rollercoaster of emotions.

Recommended for readers of contemporary romance who love alpha males and strong, sassy but vulnerable women and a sexy story containing humour, emotion and suspense.

I’m the first-born son of the mafia king. My father’s favorite. My destiny is to rule, and I embrace it. I’m a dangerous man, a ruthless one. But in my world, you have to be.

Then Natalie stumbles into my life. Wrong place. Wrong time. Twice, fate put her in my path. Twice, fate placed the innocent lamb at the mercy of the monster.

The one good thing I did in my life, I did for her. I gave her a chance to walk away. Even told her it would be better for her if she did.
But she didn’t listen.
And now, it’s too late.
Because I’m not good. I’m not the hero. Shadows follow me, darkness shrouds me. And when I touch her, it’s with dirty hands.

I know my reckoning is coming, though. I know I’ll burn for the things I’ve done, the sins I’ve committed. And I don’t deny Hell is where I belong. But I want my time first. I want my time with her.

She’s mine.
Forever.
No matter what.

Author’s Note: Sergio is a steamy standalone mafia romance set in the Benedetti world. Themes are dark and may not be what you expect.

*ARC REVIEW* ~ Willow’s Cry, by Beverly Ovalle

Adult/18+ read

Blurb

Alex is just a regular guy… who can hear the wind speak and the earth talk, not a bad thing for a Park Ranger if a bit unusual. His life is everything he desires. Until Mother Nature expresses her displeasure at his family’s threat to sell the land they had been charged to protect. Alex is left to try to stop the sale, finding a damsel in distress along the way who wraps herself around his heart.

Happy living in her tree, observing the world without joining in, Willow has yearned for Alex for years. Too shy to emerge, the little nymph is suddenly catapulted into Alex’s arms, her tree destroyed during a massive storm.

Mother Nature has a plan and she’ll do everything she can to force Alex’s family to continue their roles as guardians, even if it means sacrificing one she protects.

My Review – 5 stars

A great little erotic fantasy!

This is a super erotic fantasy novella. It is linked to the author’s earlier novella Lightning Strike (click on the title to read my review), but works perfectly well as a standalone.

Alex is in the perfect job as he not only adores working in the great outdoors, but has more than the usual affinity with nature as he can hear the wind and the earth talk. His job as a Park Ranger also gives him the opportunity to protect the land his family is responsible for. His family is planning to sell the land but Gaia cannot let that happen and decides to cast Willow one of the wood nymphs from her tree in a desperate attempt to save the land.

Will Alex be her saviour? Can she survive without being able to return to her tree? Will the land be saved or will her sacrifice be in vain? Alex will need to call on all the help he can get as well as his inner reserves if he is to save not just Willow but the land and family he loves.

I found the read to be both sweet and sizzling as befits an erotic tale. The author and the characters do not shy away from getting to know each other intimately – again and again in some scorching scenes. Alex’s life as a Ranger certainly has some perks and as for those water sprites…

Recommended for lovers of erotic romance who enjoy stories imbued with fantasy and magic.

*REVIEW* ~ Full Throttle, by Jon Hartless

#youngadult #steampunk #adventure #comingofage

Book Blurb

In an autocratic society that refuses to let her move forward, can Poppy stay ahead of the pack?

As expensive steam-powered automobiles speed across the land, Poppy Orpington is trapped and going nowhere – until her father reveals his secret project, a petrol-fuelled car ready for the race track. But will they even be allowed to compete?

Racing is the preserve of the wealthy elite and few will welcome a working class family onto their hallowed ground. Can Poppy overcome social prejudice and conformity, or will her one and only chance of a better life be crushed before it can even begin?

Full Throttle; book one of a Steampunk motor racing adventure set in a world of division, intolerance and inequality that modern readers may find disturbingly familiar…

My Review – 5 high octane fuelled stars!

I’ve given 5 high octane fuelled stars to Jon Hartless’ Steampunk adventure, Full Throttle, set in an alternate Edwardian reality of  British society. Through the trials and tribulations of the protagonist, Poppy Orpington, the author explores the discrimination and divisions inherent in early twentieth century society, discrimination and divisions which still have resonance today. The novel is a hugely entertaining and thought-provoking read.

At the centre of the tale is Poppy, whose father is on a mission – to produce a petrol-fuelled car fit to compete with and annihilate the steam-powered vehicles which dominate motor racing and wider society. Success will give him and Poppy an escape route from working class poverty and failure is not an option. Poppy’s life and future is inextricably linked to her father’s work and that of the vehicle as her life takes her on a totally unexpected trajectory for a working class girl from the Black Country. Yet will this future be the making or breaking of her and those close to her?

Poppy is an outspoken and strong-willed character whom I greatly admired – as a female with a physical disability her life is far from easy, and I relished how her personality develops throughout the book. I also enjoyed the secondary characters who play an important role in the unfolding drama, namely her best friend Amy (an excellent foil for Poppy) and her father’s backers, the young aristocrat Simeon and his wife Helena, with whom she forms a friendship, despite their social differences. I admired how, through these relationships, the author explored the key themes of the novel. I was entertained throughout by the world building, portraying a Steampunk Edwardian Britain in which the author both encapsulates the excitement and drama inherent in the infancy of motor racing and society’s divisions.

I will not reveal the storyline, as to do so would be a disservice to the author and reader, but the narrative expertly explores discrimination in terms of sex, class and disability. The read also touches on greed and obsession, the abuse of power and the ills of misogyny. The book is a cracking, page-turning read, which deserves to be on the reading list of every teenager and adult.

*REVIEW* ~ The Mobster’s Girl, by Lily Harlem

#erotic #romanticsuspense #mafia #mobster #romance

Adult/18+ read

Blurb

When the going gets tough, Beth Rammada has no choice but to get the hell out of Chicago. Her family is sinking fast and she’s at risk of being used as bait to hurt her father.

But living on the streets of New York is no walk in the park, until that is, she’s taken under the rather dubious wing of Roper Hermanus. He’s rough and hard and likes it kinky, or so he says. But should she stick around and help her sexy new friend turn a few tricks? Or should she be running for the hills?

As their journey reveals secrets, Beth falls for the man who’s shown her a new side to her erotic self. It seems their demons are compatible—the underworld, extortion and blackmail is their currency.

That is, until the biggest secret of all has to be announced to their families. Will Beth’s life ever be the same again? Does she want it to be? And will her mobster lover be there when she needs him most?

My Review – Hot and down and dirty read! ~ 5 stars

I LOVED this fast paced and oh so sexy erotic romantic suspense from Lily Harlem. It’s perfect if you fancy a quick, hot and down and dirty read! Mobster Roper is all alpha male and likes it hot, hard and rough, but has a heart of gold when he takes pity on Beth, a young homeless woman in New York and offers her a meal and a room for the night.

Roper is willing to take all Beth offers him (what man could refuse?) in what starts off as a no strings attached arrangement. Neither are looking for a permanent relationship. For her part, Beth is profoundly grateful for his gifts of a hot meal, a warm bed and a roof over her head, after months of being destitute. The hot sex is a bonus she soon becomes addicted to. Roper is all man and introduces her to some mad, bad and distinctly addictive type of loving she can’t get enough of. So what if he is a bad man!

Their no strings arrangement soon develops into something deeper. However, things soon come to a head as unbeknown to Roper Beth is on the run from a complicated and dangerous past. Beth has welcomed the anonymity of New York as she has needed to lie low for the benefit of preserving her own life and that of her family. This is all about to change…

Beth discovers that Roper’s past and present is not as far removed from her own. Just how will Roper react when he finds out the truth about Beth and what she represents? Will he protect her or sacrifice her?

I enjoyed the premise of the plot and Lily Harlem uses it to create a hero and heroine who find that they have lots more in common than they first envisaged. The lovemaking scene between them are scorching as Roper introduces Beth to his love of kink and hot, dirty and raw sex!

Recommended for fans of erotic romance who love tales on the wild side.

EXCERPT

Her belly heated and the hair on her neck stood on end. Oh no. No. No, no, no, no. The heat in her cheeks, they had to be glowing red. Leo was here, just behind her, she could feel it. Being near him was like walking into an electrical field…or in front of an oncoming train.

“Leo said the same thing”—one corner of Mrs. Bello’s mouth lifted into a smile—“hot shower and a nap and he was a new person.”

Gwen pressed her lips into a line and then pushed a giant smile onto her face. “Funny how that works.” She turned and her gaze locked with Leo’s.

Her stomach twisted. Her heart stalled. Her panties grew wet. Her entire body raged in a war between anger and want.

“Leo, Aubrey said you weren’t feeling well. Glad to see that you’re better.” She leaned forward and pecked each of his cheeks. Man. Soap. Oranges. Leo smelled of all these things, just as her pillows and sheets at home now did. She pulled back, tilted her head and gave him a sharp wtf look. He’d said he wasn’t coming. He’d said that she should come. He’d said that—

“You seem to be cruising to one hundred percent too. Aubs mentioned you’d come down with what? A cold?” He narrowed his eyes, took a drink of his beer, and glanced toward Aubrey on the far side of the room. “Sure hope you aren’t contagious. Wouldn’t want to get the pregnant lady sick.” He turned back to Gwen. “Maybe you should go home.” He lifted an eyebrow, as if to silently ask what the hell are you doing here.

Gwen bristled at his words. She was not going home. He’d insisted she should come to dinner today so as to squelch any rumors that might have started if they’d both missed the party after leaving Justin and Aubrey’s together last night. That is, if anyone had noticed—please God let no one have noticed. She was here now and she wasn’t going anywhere, not on his say-so.

“I’m pretty sure that I was just a little hung over. All better now.” She shot him an icy glare. “But you? Aubrey said you nearly hacked up a lung. Could it be pneumonia? Maybe you should take a quick run over to urgent care. Might take four or five hours, but you definitely wouldn’t want Aubrey to get pneumonia. Pregnant women have repressed immune systems. It’s science.”
