Book Blurb

Amelia Jones knows the truth; she lives and breathes it every day. The endless monotony of her life is only relieved by the grace of her nephews, which after her sister’s death, she agrees to look after.

That is, until Alexander Reeves walks through the door.

Her new boss is intriguing, charismatic and clearly driven by unspoken demons, and while Amelia knows she’s playing with fire, she’s relentlessly drawn to the man. Alexander is just as taken by her, but knows that giving into temptation can only end in disaster. When the couple succumb to a passionate, furious battle of the wills, Amelia is thrilled and afraid; Alexander’s erotic preferences are shocking to the uninitiated. The trouble is, wild as his life may seem, Amelia knows that he at least is living.
Alexander may bring about her ruin, but he also holds the secret to her salvation, and Amelia prays she might be able to save him too.

My Review

Sheer, unadulterated perfection! ~ 5 stars PLUS PLUS!

And breathe… I was completely and utterly blown away by this book and Alexander, oh, how I fell in love with him! I have been reading erotica/bdsm themed novels for the past decade or more and Alexandra Iff  excels in this genre. The Collar of Freedom (the first book in the Collar Duet), is both emotional and intense, containing smoking hot scenes and an unforgettable story and couple. It also brings to life every fantasy you could ever have about a sexy boss or co-worker, with lashings of metaphorical cream on top!

The heroine, Amelia is trapped, trapped by a promise she made to her dying sister, to look after her nephews and her life is dedicated to their well-being. It it is not until Alexandra Reeves, her new boss, bursts into her workplace, invading her space and her mind, that she is compelled to reflect on the humdrum nature of her life. I hugely enjoyed the games the sexy and dominant Alexander and Amelia engage in as the former opens her eyes to the many possibilities offered by her submission. Their attraction is instantaneous and I can honestly say, the sexual tension between these two characters just leaps off the page – it is superb and most definitely got my knickers in a twist and rocked my world!

Yet just what does Alexander want?  Does Amelia want to surrender control to this man, control that under his hands she is beginning to crave? And what of Alexander? Despite his wealth and influence it is not a given that Amelia will fall into his lap –  she, despite her insecurities, challenges him like no other woman has before. Both must battle with their responsibilities and issues from their past and the emotional conflict inherent in their relationship is well executed and I was rooting for them throughout.

There are some exceedingly naughty and imaginative scenes of passion frustration and desire as the couple strive to secure a future together despite all their baggage.  The author has a lyrical way of writing, capturing the beauty and intensity of each moment. I enjoyed how this contrasted with the occasional humour which the characters and situations are apt to express. There are some expertly placed plot twists that add a frisson of suspense to the plot and I’m looking forward to reading the conclusion to their story in The Collar of Sacrifice.

If you love erotica and erotic romance as much as I do you will not want to miss this book. It is sheer, unadulterated perfection.

Book Synopsis

I’m the first-born son of the mafia king. The favorite. Destined to rule, I’m a dangerous man, a ruthless one. But in my world, you have to be.

Then Natalie stumbles into my life. Wrong place. Wrong time.

Twice, fate put her in my path.
Twice, fate placed the innocent lamb at the mercy of the monster.

I gave her a chance to walk away. Told her it would be better for her if she did.
But she didn’t listen.
And now it’s too late.
Because I’m not good. I never wanted to be. And I won’t let her go anymore. See, I’m not the hero. When I touch her, it’s with dirty hands.

I know my reckoning is coming though. I know I’ll burn for the things I’ve done, the sins I’ve committed. And I don’t deny hell is where I belong, but I want my time first. I want my time with her.

She’s mine.
Forever.
No matter what.

Author’s Note: Sergio: a Dark Mafia Romance is an intensely emotional, steamy and dark standalone romance set in the Benedetti Brothers Mafia world. Be prepared: this is not a traditional romance.

Excerpt: Natalie’s POV

I unlock the door and step inside. The first thing I do is slip off my shoes, leaving them on the mat as I walk to the kitchen table to set down the portfolio. I realize it’s strange Pepper didn’t greet me tonight. I’m later than usual and she’s probably hungry.

“Pepper, I’m home. Sorry I’m late. You wouldn’t believe my day.” I walk around the table to open the cabinet under the sink and get her food. “Come on, honey. Dinner.”

Nothing. Not even when she must hear the sound of food filling her bowl.

I stop. “Pepper?” My heart races. Shit. She’s so old. What if…

I straighten, thinking the worst, and turn to head into the living room. I switch on the light and let out a scream because I’m not alone.
Sergio’s here. Sitting in the middle of the couch, arms spread wide, eyes hard.

And right now, he looks like a fucking Godfather.

Pepper’s on the floor, her head on his shoe, sleeping.

“I fed her.” He’s pissed, I can hear it in his voice, feel it coming off him. There’s a half empty bottle of whiskey on the coffee table.
“What are you doing here? How did you get in?”

“She was hungry.”

“How did you get inside?” I repeat. I can match his anger.

“I told you I had a key.”

Fuck. That’s what he’d meant last night. “You can’t have a key. I never gave you one.”

“You switched off your phone.”

I walk over to Pepper, squat down to pet her. I don’t look at him when I answer. “Because I didn’t want to talk to you.”

“When I call you, you answer.”

“Doesn’t work that way.” I say, standing, spinning on my heel. I’m about to walk away when he captures my wrist, his grip firm, more firm than he’s ever been with me. I make a sound, try to pull free, but he tugs on my arm, kicks my feet out from under me so I fall face down onto his lap. “What are you—”

He slaps my ass hard ten times in succession.

I’m gasping, instinctively reaching back to cover the spot. He captures my wrist, so he has both now, and holds them in one of his hands. I crane my neck to look up at him. He keeps his eyes locked on mine and rubs one hand over my ass, then spanks it again, ten more times on the other cheek.

“Stop!” It fucking hurts.

“When I call you, you answer, Natalie.”

I tug at my arms, but his grip is vice-like.

“Do you understand?” he asks.

“Let me go.”

“Do you fucking understand?”

“Yes!”

He gives me one more hard smack before releasing me, and I stumble to my feet. I feel hot, embarrassed, and I’m clutching my ass.

“I just want you safe.” He gets to his feet.

I step backward.

He’s wearing a suit, the jacket of which is hanging over the back of a chair. He gently moves Pepper’s head off his foot before he walks toward me.

I’m mute as he approaches. There’s a darkness to Sergio Benedetti. It clings to him, like a shadow. It’s the one thing that scares me about him because I trust that he won’t hurt me. And I believe that he wants me safe. I may not understand it, but I believe it.
But this shadow, it’s not one he casts. The opposite. It seems to cast itself over him. To have a claim on him. Some strange, powerful hold over him.

Excerpt – Sergio’s POV:

I go straight into my study when I get home. Even though I’m alone, I close the door out of habit. I sit with just the lamp on the desk turned on and I look at the photos. I scroll through each one. Study her face in them. I see her anger. Her fear. Her humiliation. I see it in that order. I study more too. More of her. And my dick’s hard.

“I wasn’t ever going to talk.”

I knew that. I knew it all along. She’s right. I am a pervert. Sick. Only a sick person would do this, would violate an innocent like this. It wasn’t necessary to do what I did. I just wanted to.

But I came to terms with this darker part of me a long time ago. And I’m not psychoanalyzing it now.

The last picture, the one with my hand on her hip, has my attention. The Benedetti family ring is prominent on my finger, my hand big, masculine and rough on her softly curving hip. It’s not even the gleaming pink of her pussy that’s got my eye. It’s how she’s looking at me. Watching me with those dark eyes through that veil of hair. Like she’s seeing me. Really seeing me.

I stare at them. I can’t look away. What I see, it’s not what I expect. Not hate. Not even fear. Something else. It has me curious. It’s almost as if there’s something familiar about her.

I can still smell her if I try. Was she aroused or is that just my sick brain at work? Making something up that wasn’t there. I wonder if she’s thinking about it now. If she’s lying in bed with her fingers between her legs remembering my hands on her. My eyes on her. She’d hate herself for it, I know.

I scroll back to the first image. The one of her sitting on the floor, knees pulled up, hands covering as much of herself as she can. Her chin is bowed into her chest, her hair like a curtain hiding her face from me. But if I look close, I see her accusing eyes through that fall of hair.

There’s something about this girl that I can’t put my finger on. Something that’s got me thinking about her long after I should forget.
“Insurance,” I say to myself, standing. I turn on the printer and send all the photos to it. Listen to the slow hum and buzz as each one prints. Watch Natalie’s face as each slowly slides out, stacks on top of the last. When they’ve all printed, I put them in a locked drawer of my desk before going upstairs to jerk off.

My Review ~ 5 stars

Heartbreakingly Beautiful!

Having read Natasha Knight’s Salvatore, which also tells the story of the Benedetti Brothers, I knew full well what to expect with this read, yet wondered if I was up to it. After some days of procrastination, I put on my big girl pants, girded my loins and dived in. Well let me tell you, the author has TOTALLY SLAIN me with Sergio and Natalie’s story, but I am so glad that I have read it. This dark and intense alpha deserved his story and his legacy.

In classic Natasha Knight style I was drawn into the read from the start. Once again the author effortlessly transported me to the turbulent and violent life of the mafia world in which Sergio, as his father’s heir, is very much a part. It is bloody and vicious and enemies lurk waiting for a chance to strike and exploit any weakness.

Natalie and Sergio are drawn together like the proverbial moth to the flame and their chemistry is palpable, reflected in every look, every touch and every word uttered between them. The author has a unique way of writing her alpha males and the dark, tortured character of Sergio is the perfect foil for Natalie’s inner strength and innocence. Destiny brought them together not once, but twice and their story is a beautiful one, but there are shadows which persist and grow alongside their love. The story is both heartbreaking and beyond beautiful and even as I sensed the ever present darkness draw in, I could not stop reading until the conclusion.

I am however flailing in its wake, overcome with emotion. I know I will have to pick myself up, but what to read next? Sergio is an intense read that will pull at the heartstrings and will remain with you.

Recommended for lovers of dark romance and tortured heroes, especially if you love mafia romances.

*ARC REVIEW* ~ Burned (Viking Bastards MC #3), by Christina Phillips

#erotic #romance #mcromance

Blurb

Ty…

Ten years ago I offered her everything, and she threw it back in my face. When she walked, I vowed no other woman would ever screw with my head the way she did. I moved on. Now I’m the V.P. of the Bastards, run my own nightclub, and nameless sex keeps me sane. No commitment or ties, just the way I like it.

Now she’s back, for one week only, gorgeous, successful, and I can’t keep away. She offers a long goodbye, a way to heal our fractured past. She burned me so bad––there’s no way I should even want to be near her. But the more she gives, the more I need. Until I discover the real reason she left, and my whole damn world implodes…

My Review

Sizzling second-chance MC Romance – 4.5 stars

Burned is a moving second-chance romance from Christina Phillips that positively sizzles. The book is the third in the author’s Viking Bastards MC series and although it features characters from the earlier novels, it works perfectly well as a standalone as the focus is very much on the hero and heroine, Ty and Jas.

Jas, who left L.A. 10 years ago is now back to attend her estranged mother’s funeral and wrap up her affairs before returning to the new life and career she has forged elsewhere. She is not keen to be reminded of her past and Ty, the man she left behind. Yet fate has other ideas and their paths cross almost as soon as she arrives.

Both Ty and Jas appear to be doing very well without each other – Jas is a successful career woman and Ty, well he is the V.P. of his beloved Viking Bastards and certainly has no shortage of women  keen to satisfy him. Yet Ty is still drawn to Jas and they agree to spend the night together to finally give each other closure. One encounter is not enough –  the heart wants what the heart wants, and without giving away any spoilers emotions get very complicated… The read contains some smoking hot and emotional scenes as Ty and Jas come together again and again, each fighting their attraction to one another.

I felt for Ty early on in the book, as it was clear that he had never come to terms with Jas’s hasty departure – his man-whore existence and mouthy attitude masking his feelings. I was also shocked as Jas’s true reasons for leaving are revealed. Both will have to re-evaluate and learn from the secrets and misconceptions of the past if they are to have a chance of a HEA. Will the couple be able to move forward once the truth reveals itself or does distance and the intervening years mean it too late?

Recommended for readers of second-chance romances who enjoy a steamy read featuring a strong and vulnerable female lead and an alpha male.
