He thought he could make my life hell.
But it already was.
The one time Hannah Dewitt tries to live a little, she winds up in the crosshairs of a local thug who seems hellbent on terrorizing her. As it turns out, there is more to Rafe than meets the eye, and their connection stokes her creativity like nothing else. Drawn to him despite the inherent risks, she can’t resist feeding the flames of this unlikely attraction no matter how hot they burn.
But Rafe isn’t the only monster in her life. Another looms in the background, and he won’t let her go so easily.
My Review
Twisty and Suspenseful Perfection ~ 5 stars
Lana Sky has penned yet another addictive read in Moth, the first of her Dragon Triad duet. This Romantic Suspense has a deliciously dark and sexy as f*** anti-hero in the form of Rafe, a Triad enforcer and broken bookish Hannah, the heroine, who hides from the world. When their paths cross, something starts to give in both of them, their lives becoming ever more entwined despite their differences: Rafe seeks to torment Hannah and Hannah finds herself drawn to him despite the danger he represents. I found the title of the book perfect, conjuring up the image of the proverbial moth circling the flame, knowing that it may get hurt but powerless to resist the attraction.
This author certainly knows how to create male and female leads that make the reader feel on a truly visceral level and once again I quickly became emotionally involved with them as they get to know each other and slowly their complex layers are revealed. Often it is the small quirky details she reveals about her characters that reveal much, whilst at the same time raising so many questions.
I loved how secrets abound in this read – there was so much I wanted to know about Hannah’s past in particular and enjoyed how the author revealed her history as the story unfolded. Rafe too is far more than the thug he initially appears to be and I am looking forward to finding out more about him in the next instalment. The scenes between them and the accompanying banter are steamy and passionate, with red hot sex scenes. Rafe is a man who does not do relationships and Hannah is in for a rough ride, although despite or because of this, her character grows in confidence.
There are a number of plot threads involving other characters, not least the monster that overshadows Hannah and all that she is and this made for a nail-biting read. This monster and the danger inherent in Rafe’s world gradually come to the fore, which give the story depth and at the same time propel the couple’s relationship forward.
The book ends on a cliff hanger and book two cannot come soon enough!

Teaser
“You heard me.” He utilizes that iron tone again and doesn’t move an inch until the two men finally leave the section. Then he sits back and crooks one finger at me.
“Come here.”
I don’t move. There’s something about being trapped; a deer in the headlights. When every muscle contracts, paralyzing you. It’s impossible to react logically. Or think. At least until something more alarming snaps you from the daze.
Like him literally snapping his fingers.
Thwack!
I flinch, but my body obeys my commands again. I cross my arms and square my stance, making myself as small a target as possible. I should run—but I can’t. My eyes won’t leave my bag. My journal. My conscience. It’s the one possession I can’t bear to give up.
“G-Give it back.”
“She speaks.” Amusement flickers through his angular features, making me jump. His eyes are more expressive than most people’s. Like a predator’s: it’s almost too easy to tell what he’s thinking—but you’re only ever seeing half of the tale. Hunger, yes, but its presence alone is no predictor as to when he’ll finally pounce.
“Hop this way, bunny.” Again, he crooks his finger, but there’s a swiftness to the motion that wasn’t there before. A command lurking in the deliberate twitch of his knuckle.
“Come here.”
