*REVIEW* ~ Hooked (Viking Bastards MC #1), by Christina Phillips

#Erotic #MC #Romance

Adult/18+ read

Blurb

I like my sex dirty and disposable. I’m not into commitment or chicks who want more than one night. My brothers and club come first, second and last.

Until she walks into my life. Classy, rich and so out of my league it’s crazy. A week together should get her out of my system, but this good girl is so bad when we’re all alone and I can’t get enough of her.

I don’t do forever, but she’s hooked me so bad I don’t ever want to let her go. Except there’s no way a princess can live in my world and I sure as hell won’t live in hers…

My Review  – 5 stars *****

Opposites attract in this sizzling erotic MC romance

Hooked, by Christina Phillips is the first book in her new contemporary romance series, a sizzling erotic foray into the lives and loves of the Viking Bastards Motorcyle Club. It is a scorching read which pairs Zach, the hot and dirty commitment-phobe with the mega rich and uber classy Grace. It’s definitely a case of opposites attract when Grace’s car breaks down on the wrong side of town and she ventures into the club’s bar to seek help. Yet help is not all she finds once she catches the eye of Zach…

Zach is angling for a casual hook up with one hell of an attractive female and Grace throws her usual caution to the wind and indulges in one night stand. Neither think it will go any further but it does. Very soon it develops into a  case of ‘friends with benefits’ and the couple, whilst telling themselves their relationship is not serious – after all their lives are chalk and cheese, cannot get enough of each other. Zach finds that although Grace does not fit into his usual love ’em and leave ’em plan, he is not sure where their relationship is going and Grace is equally unsure whether Zach sees any future for them other than casual sex.

The sex scenes and the banter between Grace and Zach sizzle and I loved how the couple fell for each other. Yet their HEA seems so elusive as their lives are so different. Will Grace find the courage to escape a lifetime of conformity and can Zach break his cardinal rule of not getting emotionally involved with a woman, least of all one whose life is far removed for his own? Will their burgeoning relationship survive when their worlds collide?

Christina Phillips writes the most scorching sex scenes (hot and down and dirty)! There is also plenty of romance and I found the couple very believable. If you like strong alpha types and classy heroines not afraid to put them in their place, you will love this read.

Recommended for fans of the genre.

*REVIEW* ~ Rising for Autumn (Philadelphia Coven Chronicles Book 3), by Katherine McIntyre

#paranormal #romance #urbanfantasy

Adult Read

Book Blurb

Crisis and danger have become second nature for Alanna Carrington. After all, as the boss of the Philadelphia Coven, she’s responsible for upholding the laws amongst the supernatural. Which means when the Order of the Serpent rears its ugly head, this time with the most powerful necromancer this city’s ever seen, she’s the one person who can keep Philly safe. Ex-Order djinn and now ally, Samuel Karim, happens to be the best-suited guy to help. Except he’s also the first man who’s stoked her interest in far too long, and ever since she commandeered the lamp he’s tethered to for safekeeping, he also hates her guts.

As the Order gathers the necromancers of her city and sparks a dangerous alliance, she finds herself working with Samuel Karim more and more. Hatred turns to passion, and when he exhibits a strength and compassion that breaks through her ironclad defenses, she finds herself falling deeper despite the complications between them. Yet with her city under siege and their lives on the line, the sharp desire between them erupts into the temptation to break their own rules, before the Order of the Serpent robs them of the chance permanently.

My Review ~ 4 and a half stars

Enemies to Lovers Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance

I just love an enemies to lovers romance –  there is something beguiling about all that emotionally intense angst filled hate, flip flopping and fuelling the desire afflicting two individuals attracted to each other despite their best convictions! Rising for Autumn is the third book in Katherine McIntyre’s Philadelphia Coven Chronicles series. The read pairs world weary djinn Sam with Alanna, the ice princess, who is head of the Philadelphia Coven. Those familiar with the earlier books in the series Hunting for Spring and Scrying for Summer (click on titles for reviews) will already be familiar with both characters and I have been looking forward to reading their romance.

The odds are stacked against the two would-be-lovers from the start. Sam clearly has reason to despise Alanna, for as she is the holder of his lamp, he is obliged to do her bidding. As Sam was previously in thrall to the Order of the Serpent the Coven’s arch enemy, Alanna cannot take his loyalty for granted, even as he assists her and her team in its battle against the Order. Sam resents her control over him, as he has resented the control exercised by all those who have possessed his lamp. However, the Coven’s work is a worthwhile cause and once more their current adversary, a powerful necromancer, is one with whom he has an important personal score to settle.

I enjoyed the story and romance between the couple, for although they seem to have so much against them, they find they have much in common if only time and fate will give them a chance. I loved that despite his situation Sam finds himself drawn to Alanna, especially when they are increasingly thrown together and circumstances conspire to expose the real woman beneath the hard exterior. He is intrigued, even as he resents her for possessing his lamp. I found Alanna rather remote and cold in the previous books, but I soon warmed to her as the author turned this around and made me empathise with her through revealing her character and backstory. It will take Sam, an immortal and a former enemy, to penetrate her hard exterior and I found myself becoming invested in their HEA very quickly. The book has plenty of romance, including explicit lovemaking scenes.

Yet how can the couple have a future together when the balance of control is clearly stacked in Alanna’s favour? Once more what chance do they have when the powerful necromancer Akanda will use every weapon in her arsenal to destroy the Coven, its allies and above all Sam with whom she has a history? It is not clear who will remain standing after she unleashes her worst and whether Alanna and Sam will be amongst them, let alone find a HEA.

The read is an action packed one and there is plenty of dark magic as the necromancers and their army of the undead attempt to destroy the Coven and wreak their evil plans on the city. The blood and gore flow as the Coven’s witches and their allies do battle with the wights, redcaps and necromancers.

Rising for Autumn is recommended for readers of action-packed paranormal and urban fantasy who like their reads served with plenty of passion and romance.

*REVIEW* ~ The Vodka Trail, by AA Abbott

#crime #thriller

Book Blurb

Orphaned and destitute as a teenager, Kat has made a new life for herself in London. Now she’s determined to reclaim her father’s vodka business in the former Soviet Union.

Birmingham businessman Marty wants to stop her. That alone isn’t why Kat hates him – she blames him for her parents’ deaths. But when she’s taken hostage by freedom fighters, only Marty can help her survive.

My Review

~ Slick and Entertaining  ***** (5 stars) ~

The Vodka Trail is a slick and entertaining crime thriller, with believable characters and plenty of plot twists, taking place in Birmingham, London and the former Soviet Union. It is the second book in the Trail series (the first being the Bride’s Trail), but can easily be read as a standalone, for although it does feature some characters from the first novel, it contains a brand new plot.

Kat travels to the former Soviet Union to reclaim her family’s vodka business. At the same time Marty, a Birmingham businessman,  also finds himself there on what is to turn out to be an ill-fated business trip. The two protaganists have a history going way back, to when Kat was a child, and they are both as stunned as each other when they discover that they are both held captive by freedom fighters. They know that their situation is precarious and that they will be lucky to escape with their lives. Kat in particular finds that she has to rely on Marty to maintain her sanity and recognises that the man she blames for so many past events in her life may be the one man who could save her life.

As Kat and Marty spend time in captivity together they are compelled to confront events which took place in the past, little realising how much of the past and present have collided in their current predicament. Their situation also impacts on family and friends in the UK and it is an anxious time as they await their, fate hoping for the best, yet fearing the worst.

The read is a realistic and harrowing portrayal of kidnapping and of the contrasting lives of those who live in the former Soviet Union and the UK. Not only was I on pins to see if Kat and Marty would survive their ordeal, but also how they would endure their close proximity given their animosity towards each other. Scenes expertly pan from their desperate situation to the lives and motivations of their captors and friends and family (including Kat’s fiancé) in the UK. Their existence is far removed from the shenanigans of some characters and the contrast makes for an entertaining read. I enjoyed both the two main characters as well as the insight into the political situation which has prompted their kidnapping.

The author has a gift for scene setting and I particularly liked her descriptions of Birmingham and London’s business community and those of the former Soviet Union, which I found very insightful. I particularly enjoyed the complex relationship between Kat and Marty and how this develops throughout the novel.

A super crime thriller, which is a thoroughly entertaining read.

*ARC REVIEW* ~ The Red Cobra, by Rob Sinclair

#crime #spy #thriller

Blurb

Carl Logan dedicated nearly twenty years of his life to the Joint Intelligence Agency. Now living in a secret location, under the new identify of James Ryker, he wants nothing more than to be left alone, the chance to start a new life away from chaos, violence, destruction and deceit.

It’s not long, however, before Ryker’s short-lived idyll is destroyed when he is tracked down by Peter Winter, his ex-boss at the JIA. Winter brings with him news of the murder of a woman in Spain, Kim Walker, whose fingerprints match those of one of Ryker’s former adversaries who’s been missing presumed dead for years – an infamous female assassin known as the Red Cobra.

A cyberattack at the JIA led to the Red Cobra’s profile being compromised, and Winter believes JIA agents may now be at risk too, Ryker included. But Ryker knew the elusive Red Cobra better than anyone, and when he sees the grisly pictures of Kim Walker’s corpse, he has news for Winter – she isn’t the assassin at all …

So just who is the mystery dead woman? And where is the real Red Cobra?

The Red Cobra is a fast-paced thriller filled with twists and turns and intrigue that will appeal to readers of big-hitting thrillers by the likes of Lee Child and David Baldacci, and with echoes in its plotting and breadth of the globe-trotting spy thriller I Am Pilgrim.

My Review ~ Engrossing and Expertly Written Spy Thriller ~ 5 stars TOP READ

This read is  another tour de force from bestselling author Rob Sinclair. In his latest Spy Thriller, The Red Cobra, we are reunited with James Ryker (aka Carl Logan from the author’s page-turning Enemy series). Prepare for a white knuckle ride as Ryker goes up against the mafia, intelligence services, bent policeman and a mysterious figure from his past. The read is a standalone but the book’s conclusion lays the ground nicely for the continuation of the series.

Ryker’s life in Spain has become an idyllic one, far removed from his previous life as an employee of the Joint Intelligence Agency. However, he is tempted out of retirement by his former boss, to investigate a vicious murder in Spain. The victim’s fingerprints match those of a notorious female assassin, the Red Cobra, whom Ryker has encountered in his former life as Carl Logan. Ryker knows that the body is not that of his old adversary and it appears that moves are afoot to compromise the identity of fellow agents rendering them at risk. It is a race against time to track down the perpetrators and prevent more lives being lost.

The plot is fast moving and totally engrossing. Much of the action takes place in Spain, although some chapters pan back to the past in the Soviet Union and beyond where we find out about The Red Cobra and her shared history with Ryker. This added a great deal of depth to the story and helped explain their motivations. There are a number of well drawn secondary characters  who accompany Ryker on his quest to put the pieces of a complex puzzle together. Aside from the main protaganists, I also enjoyed the character of Eva. Ryker certainly has his work cut out to identify friend from foe, find out the whereabouts of the real Red Cobra and the identity of the murder victim.

I enjoyed how in this read the author has further developed the complex character of Ryker, who I met as Carl Logan in his previous books. Although Ryker still maintains his hard and ruthless persona with his take no prisoners approach, as events unfold we witness how this complex man has now developed his own code of honour and is not simply just a blunt instrument of his employers. I loved the role of the enigmatic Red Cobra in the plot and the part she played in Ryker’s past and thought that the author portrayed her role as a female assassin in expert fashion.

There is plenty of action, suspense and some violent and gory scenes as the plot unravels and Ryker carries out his mission in the sweltering heat of Spain’s Costas. The stakes are high and there are twists aplenty! Indeed, The Red Cobra is a real treat for lovers of Spy Thrillers and is, I feel, the author’s best Carl Logan inspired book yet. I am so looking forward to the next in the series.

*ARC REVIEW* ~ Claimed by Power (Empire of Angels), by Zoey Ellis

#paranormal #romance #urbanfantasy #angels #demons

Adult/18+ read

Book Blurb

Not all angels are angelic

Thea Robinson has never needed anyone’s charity. Sure, her impoverished existence isn’t desired by most, but her ability to manipulate people’s emotions helps her to blend into the shadows of an unforgiving city. When hideous creatures threaten her life, a surly but gorgeous stranger shows up revealing a world she didn’t know existed. She refuses to put up with his rude, arrogant attitude, but how do you dismiss a warrior angel? And does she really want to when his stormy gaze sends delicious thrills straight to her core?

Cam is one of the most ruthless Power angels in the fight against evil. His devotion to kill demons has made him a celebrated warrior in the Angel Realm, even though his motivation stems from grief. When he is assigned to train and protect a half-angel just coming into her abilities, his rage is unparalleled. Until he realizes Thea isn’t like any others. She stirs a carnal passion in him that he can’t shake. He never counted on her being so beautiful… so fierce… so most definitely his.

Claimed by Power is the first book in the Empire of Angels series, a paranormal alpha angel romance series. If you’re a fan of alpha heroes, powerful heroines, paranormal worlds and falling in love, Zoey Ellis’ riveting, sexy tale is perfect for you.

About the end: Although this book can be read as a standalone, Cam and Thea’s story does continue over the next two books.

Sexual scenes and strong language included. Not suitable for readers under 18.

My Review

Smexy and captivating start to a new series ~ 4 and a half stars

Claimed by Power is a smexy and captivating start to new series by Zoey Ellis. It pairs a drop-dead gorgeous alpha angel, with serious attitude issues, with a strong-willed young woman who has only just come into to her powers as a fledgling half-angel. If you are after a sexy and fast-paced read with a paranormal twist then look no further – this book delivers on all counts!

Thea’s existence is a hard one, as she tries to make a life for herself on the wrong side of town. She is fortunate in that she has always had an uncanny ability to influence the emotions of others – a talent that has got her out of many a scrape. At first she thinks she is going crazy when she starts to see hideous creatures, creatures that her friends cannot see. However, when the warrior angel Cam appears in her life and explains that these creatures are not only real but that they are demons which she can see as she herself is a half-angel, a Nephilim and that he is to train her to slay them, she realizes that her life will never be the same again…

All is not plain sailing as Cam has vowed never to take another mate, after his beloved was killed by demons and Thea does not want to submit to any male, especially one who is so gruff and uncompromising, even if he is gorgeous. Indeed, I loved how sparks fly between them from  the off. Cam is a Power Angel, an alpha through and through and is not at all happy with playing nursemaid to this sassy half-angel, when he could be out seeking vengeance on demon kind. Similarly, Thea resents his surly and high handed attitude. It does not help that both feel an strong pull towards each other, a pull that neither of them can afford to succumb to.

Fate seems to have other plans however… believe me, the plot is sexy and fast moving as the couple become ever closer. There’s oodles of sexual tension and the lovemaking scenes are no holds barred and contain scorching scenes of Angel-sex. Will Cam be able to keep his headstrong charge safe from demon kind? Can Thea trust Cam when he blows hot and cold? And why do her abilities far exceed those of other Nephlim? The path to their HEA is far from guaranteed. Life is certainly not smooth for these two proud and stubborn individuals, especially when there appears to be more at play then they could ever imagine…

All in all a compulsive read and a cracking start to a new paranormal series.

*REVIEW* – The Angel Alejandro, by Alistair Cross

#urbanfantasy #paranormal #horror #romance

Adult Read

taa

Book Blurb

A Man without a Past

After a near-fatal accident, Madison O’Riley is faced with an astonishing problem: What to do with the man who saved her life. Naive and heart-stoppingly handsome, he calls himself Alejandro … and he has no memory of his past. As they set out to recover his lost identity, Madison realizes he harbors deep – and otherworldly – secrets that will shatter her understanding of reality … secrets that may put her in grave danger.

The Devil in the Details

And now, there’s another stranger in town. Gremory Jones has something for everyone, and for a small price, he’s willing to make a deal. By day, he walks the streets of Prominence in top hat and trench coat, tempting the citizens with nefarious wares from his shiny black briefcase. By night, he and his legion of insatiable acolytes corrupt the locals at Club Mephistopheles, a den of unholy delights housed in an abandoned church.

The Battle has Begun …

The townspeople are changing in outrageous and appalling ways and it’s up to Madison – with the help of a psychic, a local priest, and the new chief of police – to help Alejandro unlock his forgotten powers before an unspeakable evil tears apart the fabric of existence … and costs them their very souls …

My Review ~ A battle between good and evil in another modern Gothic masterpiece ~5 Stars *TOP READ*

Alistair Cross once again excels himself with another of his modern Gothic masterpieces, this time set in the seemingly sleepy town of Prominence in California. I am a real sucker for books pitting angels against demons, as I just love tales of good versus evil. I therefore jumped at the chance to review the author’s latest novel The Angel Alejandro, which blurs the lines between paranormal romance, urban fantasy and horror and is an absolute delight for fans of these genres. Once more, as someone who is familiar with the author’s work, having read The Ghosts of Ravenscrest and Mother, which he co-wrote with Tamara Thorne and his novel The Crimson Corset I just knew I was in for a real treat!

When a handsome and mysterious stranger saves Madison O’Riley from a fatal fall, little does she realise that her life and that of the inhabitants of the town of Prominence will soon descend into the depths of the Twilight Zone. It is not long before Madison and others start to realise that the amnesiac who calls himself Alejandro, has powers which defy comprehension…

When the strange and compelling Gremory Jones and his associates arrive in town the book gets increasingly darker as Gremory’s intent becomes clear as he begins to ensnare the townspeople in his machinations. Add to the mix a psychic, a local priest, and the new chief of police, who is a recovering alcoholic, and the scene is set for a series of dastardly, dark and depraved scenes. The town succumbs to chaos and carnage, with its inhabitants merely collateral damage in a battle between good and evil. Rest assured though the read also contains plenty of scenes of humour and romance giving relief from the ensuing horror!

I just LOVED this thoroughly gripping and entertaining read and I was on pins waiting to discover if Alejandro would remember his true nature and protect himself, the town and the woman he is growing to love before it is too late.

The author’s characterisations are brutally honest, insightful and full of dark humour as he explores the human condition, lifting the lid on the private desires and personal hang-ups of the characters. The romance between Madison and Alejandro is a sweet one and due to Alejando’s innocent disposition there are plenty of scenes where the author exploits this for comedic value. The new Police Chief Nick Grayson, who has come to Prominence to make a new start and to clean up his act, certainly has his work cut out with the temptations and increasing body count that the town throws at him from day one of his arrival! I enjoyed the pivotal part he plays in the emerging plot.

If you are already familiar with his author and/or you enjoy the work of Steven King and the cinematic genius of David Lynch you will savour this read as much as I did. Highly recommended!

*REVIEW* ~ Alaska Wild, by Helena Newbury

Blurb

From the first moment I see Mason Boone, I can’t take my eyes off him. Everyone’s got a different story about the gorgeous, silent man in chains. He’s a hero, a former Navy SEAL. He’s a fugitive, on his way to a court martial. He’s a loner, a mountain man who hasn’t spoken to another soul in years. But when our plane crashes deep in the Alaskan wilderness, Mason becomes my only hope. I’m an FBI agent and he’s a prisoner, but to survive the wild animals, fierce weather and unforgiving terrain, I must put my faith in him.

Staying alive means staying close but every time he touches me, I melt inside. I can’t resist this man, not when he looks at me as if he wants to push me up against the nearest tree and tear my clothes off…. Is it possible that he’s innocent? Can I help him overcome the demons of his past? I’m a city girl but to survive this I’m going to need to learn to live as wild as him…because the greatest danger we face isn’t from nature. The other prisoner from our flight is out there with his gang…and they’re hunting us.

My Review ~ 5 stars TOP READ

Sexy Romantic Suspense with a whole lot of sass!

I LOVED this read! It is a super sexy romantic suspense, which pairs Kate, a dedicated FBI agent and Mason, a wanted criminal, an ex-Navy SEAL. When their paths literally collide and the plane they are in crashes in the wilderness, Kate finds that her survival depends on this man whose military record has been tainted and who is due to be court marshalled. Can she trust him to return her to the safety of civilization when his return there will lead to his capture and incarceration in prison? Is he innocent or guilty?

The attraction between them sizzles off the page. Being stranded with Mason is a godsend to Kate, as being very much a city girl she has no skills when it comes to surviving in such a brutal landscape with its many dangers. However, the true danger comes from those that are hunting them, men who would prefer that they had not survived the plane crash.  Kate and Mason soon find that they are involved in a desperate fight to survive in the wilderness. Will they survive? Can Kate trust Mason? Even given their growing connection can they possibly have a future together? The book is a real page turner!

Kate is a great heroine, spunky and sassy and dedicated to her job in the FBI and committed to bringing criminals to justice. Yet what she learns will have her questioning her beliefs in the system. She has to overcome many of her fears whilst she is stranded in the wilderness and I loved how Mason supported her in this.

Mason is an alpha hero through and through, a real mountain of a man, who Kate is immediately drawn to. He has a troubled past however, one which haunts his present and he knows that he must avoid recapture at all costs. I loved how committed he is to doing the right thing, ensuring Kate’s survival and ensuring her safety.

Their enemies are formidable though and I was on the edge of my seat to see if they survived without losing their lives and hearts in the process. There are many superb and thrilling action scenes and vivid descriptions of the Alaskan wilderness. I was totally transported there by the power of the author’s writing. The lovemaking scenes are emotional and heartfelt and the couple have a very real and deep connection, which meant that I was heavily invested in their HEA.

I was hooked on reading this book from beginning to end. It is the first book that I’ve read by Helena Newbury and I’ll be seeking out more of her work to read soon.

*REVIEW* ~ Crash, by Drew Jordan

The greatest love stories begin with blood…

There is blood. There is pain. And there is him. These are the first things I register when I wake up, the lone survivor in an Alaskan plane crash. He carries me to safety over rough terrain and brings me to his cabin in the woods. He has no name. Or none he will tell me.

As snow creeps across the harsh and isolated landscape, he is my only company. My protector, my caretaker. A fascinating enigma, with mysterious eyes, gentle hands, and a rough voice that demands more from me than I ever expected to give. I make up different stories, different names for him depending on his mood, because I know nothing about him except that he is my only connection to the real world I want to return to. So I work to please him, plotting my escape, yet all while I start to crave him and every touch of his dominating body.

He has saved me from the cold. From death. But in taking me and my body, will he destroy me?

My Review – 5 stars

An Addictive Dark Erotic Thriller

Where to start? Crash, by Drew Jordan is one hell of a dark and thrilling read! I must warn you that it does end on a cliff hanger (an ending I did not see coming), but the good news is that the remaining books in the series have both been released. If you do choose to read this you will not have to wait for the sequels!

Lainey is the sole survivor of a plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness and it is fortunate for her that she is rescued. Her saviour is a reclusive wilderness man who refuses to let her know his name or identity. The ‘Stranger’ is, despite his ripped body and good looks, quite terrifying. Moreover he has been without a woman for a long time and he has few social skills…

As Lainey recovers she becomes more and more attracted to him, despite her fear, and the inevitable happens. There are some sizzling no holds barred scenes between them in which the the ‘Stranger’ shows just how dominant he is, illustrated by the following quote:

“Just do what I say. Always. And everything will be fine.”

Due to her injuries and the isolation of his cabin, Lainey is reliant on him for her basic needs and their relationship is one of control and dependence. Their relationship is therefore far from what could be described as normal. The ‘Stranger’ clearly has the upper hand in a big way ( a number of scenes make his this  very explicit) and Lainey, although she comes to enjoy his touch, fears that she will never escape.

As the story is narrated in the first person POV, by Lainey, the ‘Stranger’ is an enigma to the reader just as he is to Lainey. The reader can only surmise what dark deeds he may have committed in the past and what has led him to lead an isolated existence for so long. We learn little about Lainey, other than that she is a young woman striving to take control of her life. The focus of the story is mainly on the couple’s relationship.

I read a lot of dark romances and there are some extremely twisted elements to this book. The ending blew my mind! I’m looking forward to reading the other books in the series to find out where Lainey and ‘Stranger’s’ extremely unorthodox story goes.

Recommended for dark romance fans.

The dragons will search the universe for their one true mate…

Grace has a special ability. She senses paranormal beings. It’s the perfect trait to have as an operative for the Paranormal Detection Agency. A pity her next target, Kadin Marres, doesn’t just trigger her paranormal senses … he triggers her lust too.

Kadin has been aware of the elusive Grace for some time now and has waited patiently for her. She’s a dragon breeder, and once he finally has her, he isn’t about to give her up. Not even if it means she goes from hunter to hunted.

My Review  – Strong Prequel to a New Series: a fast-paced, sexy and erotic read ~ 4.5 stars

If you like hot alien dragon shifters do yourself a favour and download a copy of this book. Kadin (currently free on Amazon) is a great introduction to a new erotic sci-fi series penned by Mel Teshco,  Dragons of Riddich.

The novella is a short, fast paced, sexy, erotic read where the hunter very quickly becomes the prey. Grace soon discovers that her destiny is inextricably linked to the supernatural beast she is charged with entrapping for the Paranormal Detection Agency.  Her life unravels in ways she could never have imagined as soon as she meets her mark Kadin….

The scene where they first meet had me hooked from the start – it’s downright hot and literally sears the page with its scorching passion!  Grace’s plan to once again use her womanly attributes to snare and destroy another despised supernatural goes out of the window very quickly, as Kadin makes it his business to keep her. Her unexpected desire blindsides her as does the fact that he seems to know all about her troubled past.. Indeed, the author does an excellent job of showing us just how attracted Grace and Kadin are to each other and how their destinies are intertwined.

The couple must learn to trust each other very quickly if they are to give their burgeoning relationship a chance, as they strive to escape their pursuers who have a nefarious agenda of their own… We learn what circumstances have brought Kadin to Earth in search of a life and a mate, which paves the way for the other books in the series. For Grace all is not as it seems as she is compelled to question all she knows. The ending really packs a punch and I’m looking forward to reading Asher, book 1 in the series.

A super prequel to what promises to be a great new sci-fi erotic romance series.

Adult/18+ read

Sizzling Sci-Fi Ménage!

I was SO excited to be given a copy of this sci-fi ménage to review. I have a real soft spot for erotic sci-fi  as it leaves plenty of scope  for fascinating world building, not to mention giving the author free rein to introduce plenty of super hot alien sex! 😉 Reckless by Lily Harlem, a standalone in the Planet Alpha series, delivered in spades on both counts. Scroll down to read the book blurb and my review. But first a little background on the Planet Alpha series…

The males on Planet Alpha need mates. Infertility has plagued their race for decades. The answer lies on Earth where tempting females are waiting to be saved. When their enemies attempt to claim the spoils of a dying world, only the strongest will get their prize.

Blurb for Reckless

reckless

Aurora Zenith is battling to survive in poisonous London. Working at a docking station to Planet Alpha is not helping. Why? Because each day she witnesses lucky humans rocketing to a better life in the stars. With a surname last on the list to escape and a lung condition making her first on the list for death she’s getting desperate … and reckless.

Seeing an opportunity to stow away on sexy Captain Ciro’s shuttle to Alpha, Aurora acts first and thinks later. Trouble is, without a plan she’s flailing in space and lost on an alien world.

A string of rash decisions and a hasty retreat make for a perfect storm of danger, deceit, and lust. Will Aurora escape the evil Xyran who has her in his sights? Will Captain Ciro ever tear his attention from his gorgeous copilot and notice her? And what do the Alphans mean when they say a woman will complete them?

The only thing to do is fly with them and see where she lands.

My Review – 5 stars

Sizzling Sci-Fi Ménage!

I LOVED this standalone erotic sci-fi romance by Lily Harlem. The read contains a woman fleeing Earth to save her life and two hot blooded Alphans who are hell bent on making her theirs, even if she is an illegal alien! The read contains some scorching scenes of ménage, voyeurism, self-pleasure and more.

Aurora Zenith is desperate, desperate to escape the pollution on Earth that is slowly but surely killing her. When she gets a chance to escape and make a new life for herself on a far flung planet she decides to throw caution to the wind and jumps at it. Yet stowing away on an alien ship bound for Planet Alpha is not a safe option, especially when she is travelling with false papers and she has already attracted the attention of the ship’s captain…  I was on pins waiting to see what would happen when the ship reaches its destination and her deception is discovered. Will she be punished and returned to Earth or can this illegal alien somehow make a future for herself? The stakes are high and the sex is off the Richter scale in his sizzling ménage by Lily Harlem.

Without a plan Aurora is compelled towards more and more reckless actions  and it is not long before she finds herself reunited with the handsome ship’s pilot Captain Ciro and his sexy co-pilot and lover Luc. There are some smokin’ hot scenes where Aurora is the lucky recipient of some alien loving! Be sure to have plenty of iced drinks on hand as the read hits the spot again and again!

I was rooting for Aurora from the off as she really has no choice to act in such a reckless fashion – escape Earth or die a slow and painful death. Captain Ciro is a loving dominant and Luc is equally dedicated to protecting and worshipping the lucky Aurora. The novel has plenty of danger and suspense as their future together is under threat from a number of sources and this added to my overall enjoyment.

Recommended for lovers of hot aliens, erotic romance and ménage.
