Update by Caroline

What a week of some fantastic sunshine we have been having here in the UK! It certainly gets you in that holiday mood! We hope that you have  been enjoying some fab books in the sun. Let us know what you have been reading 🙂 We would like to give a big, warm WELCOME to our latest followers. Thank you so much for all of your support and interest.  We have also reached our first 100 ‘Likes’ on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/AReadersReview. Thank you to all that shared our post and introduced some new followers. You’re very kind and myself and Tina appreciate it very much! You can also find us on Twitter at @areadersreviewb.

So, what have we been up to recently?:-

Hidden AgendaSince our last update we have posted our review of Hidden Agenda by Peter S. Berman, a fantastic crime/thriller and dramatic courtroom novel where the investigation into the topical case doesn’t stop until the very end! A widower and senior prosecutor at the LA District Attorney’s office (Jeremy Hart) has an affair with a beautiful ex-model who is married to a wealthy and powerful businessman. However, when her abusive husband becomes suspicious and violently attacks her, and later his body is found with two bullet holes in, it doesn’t take too long before the detectives charge Jeremy for the murder. After all he has the motive and no substantial alibi. BUT, is everything as it seems? Did Jeremy kill in order to protect the new woman in his life so they can be together with no fear?

WolfstoneTo coincide with the release of ‘The Wolfstone Curse’ we have had our first and exclusive interview to post of author Justin Richards (BBC Consultant on the Dr Who titles!). Along with the interview we also reblogged our review, with Tina’s review to follow shortly. The Wolfstone Curse is suitable for readers of 11yrs+ and follows Peter, whose dad is an archaeologist, and Carys, whose resides in theWolfstone village inn that is run by her mother. When Peter’s dad has work to carry out at Wolfstone, Peter decides to go exploring. During this time Peter discovers the existence of werewolves and the curse that has been bestowed upon them. With an ally in Carys, the two teenagers go on a spectacular adventure of horror! This was an exceptionally fantastic read and I would recommend this to youngsters and adults alike.

WaysToSeeGhost CvrAs well as The Wolfstone Curse, Templar Publishing have very recently released Emily Diamand’s ‘Ways to See a Ghost’. To coincide with this great release, you can read Tina’s in-depth review. A paranormal horror for those aged 11+ crosses two teenagers; Gray with a father heavily into UFO sightings and conspiracies; and Isis with a mother claiming to be a psychic. As well as it’s dark moments there are some brilliant comedic moments as both of these parents begin dating. Although the mother claims to be a psychic it is in fact her daughter that can see ghosts. However, Isis cannot mention this to her mum when it is the ghost of her little sister that she can see. To mention it would destroy the happiness that her mother has tried to build up since the fatal day. When her mum is invited into an elite pysycic society, there is doubt almost immediately on the intentions of the society’s leader. The whole story connects together with the ghosts that Isis can see and the unexplained sightings Gray and his father experience. Lives are in danger but can Isis and Gray figure it all out in time and prevent any tragedies? (Also reviewed previously by Caroline.)

Enchanted Immortals 4: The Vixen (Enchanted Immortals, #4)Lastly, but most certainly not the least, we have posted our review of C.J. Pinard’s ‘Enchanted Immortals 4: The Vixen! An absolutely thrilling urban paranormal series consisting of vampires, shifters, sylphs and the heroes of it all – the Immortals, whose job it is to police mostly the vamps and shifters. In The Vixen we follow the foxy Immortal Kathryn’s story. This is full of tragedy, heartache and love. However, Kathryn is not a force to be reckoned with as she is bold and more than capable of looking after herself with the power of mind-reading. The title and the cover art are excellent in helping describe Kathryn. Meanwhile, there are talks of having a new leadership amongst the vampires, the shifters open up a new club in town and Melina takes time out to contemplate her future. But will she return in time for the Immortals to take their dose of Enchantment in order for them to remain immortal?

THIS WEEK

Update by Caroline

Wow, guys, it has been a while since our last update. I hope that you have all fared well and had many great books to read. A big WELCOME to our latest followers – we hope you enjoy our blog and please feel free to comment as we’d love to hear from you! So, what have Tina and myself been reading? What have been our latest reviews? What other areas of interest have we posted about lately? And last, but not least, what are we planning to read and review over the next week or two? Hopefully, this update will answer all of these questions by providing you with a recap and forecast for the coming week!!!

one-lovely-blog-award[1]Firstly, I would like to mention our nomination for the One Lovely Blog Award, nominated by Sarah Colliver! Thank you so much, Sarah. To take part, Tina and myself have provided you with 7 pieces of trivia about ourselves and provided nominations of blogs that we feel deserve more credit. Please check it out and have a look at our nominees’ blogs and have a little laugh when reading a few personal touches from Tina and myself. As well as clicking on the link above, you can also find it on our About Us page, along with our nomination for The Liebster Award!

Lomogram_2013-05-30_08-32-48-PMThe lovely Sarah Colliver is an author, blogger and a keen photographer. Not only was she kind enough to nominate us for the award, she has written an author post for us to coincide with Tina’s review of her Peggy Rodman series. In Tina’s words, “These poignant and uplifting tales describe how Peggy Rodman, a wife and mother, uses a new found gift to help  lost and confused spirits make sense of their past and reunite with their a8201da7e24b0a20e32f0e.L._V400995341_[1]-002loved ones. At the same time Peggy finds some comfort from her own grief at the death of her dear mother. Although both tales brought tears to my eyes, they both ended on a positive note and I found them to be inspirational and uplifting reads in their examination of love, loss and reconciliation in this life and the afterlife.” For Tina’s full review please click on the link above.

woman2[1]-001We have also welcomed Paul Hodge from his blog, Freak Folk Tales, as he kindly allowed us to publish one of his eerie, paranormal short stories, The Woman Who Floated Above The Hedge! This is a tale of an unwelcome visitor that may give you the heebie jeebies!! Thank you, Paul!

shutterstock_118713643-001This surely has been a week for A Reader’s Review Blog to welcome many guests, as we also have featured a post from Sabrina,  ‘The Urban Book Thief’, on Deconstructing the Alpha Male!! Here Sabrina has analysed the different male heroic characters and noted the different types of alpha male. This is a fantastic and fun read! Thanks, Sabrina!

Mulberry_WEB.smAs well as having our fantastic guest bloggers, Tina and myself have also reviewed two fantastic novels. I reviewed SJ Sprague’s follow up to ‘A Presence in Russell County (The Organization, Book 1)’, which is ‘Mulberry (The Organization, Book 2)’. The Organization series is an exciting crime thriller, focused on an elite organization that deal with corrupt officers of the law. With sufficient evidence they are able, if need be, to try and sentence the corrupt officers swiftly and wickednightscoverfinal[1]justifiably. The Organization series is truly a great read and does not go without romance either! Meanwhile, Tina has reviewed Gena Showalter’s ‘Wicked Nights (Angels of the Dark #1)’ about a heavenly match between a human and an angel. This is a spin off series from Gena’s fantastic Lords of the Underworld series, and as the  cover shows it is a little on the HOT side!!!

Upcoming on A Reader’s Review Blog…

WaysToSeeGhost CvrWhich leaves us to talk about upcoming reviews! Well, as already reviewed by myself and to tie in with our ghostly posts, i.e.  The Woman Who Floated Above The Hedge and Peggy Rodman series, Tina will be reviewing the young adult sci-fi/paranormal Ways to See a Ghost by Emily Diamand. We were lucky enough to receive a pre-released copy from Templar Publishing for the purpose of an honest and fair review. Ways toWolfstone See a Ghost will be released in July. For a taster, please check out my review here. Tina is also looking to review the young adult sci-fi The Wolfstone Curse by Justin Richards (the Creative Consultant for BBC Books on the Dr Who titles), also set for release in July from Templar Publishing. For a more adult read, Tina is hoping to review Eve Rabi books Obsessed With Me – When She Rejected Him, He Set Out to Destroy Her book 1 and 2! There will be more on these soon so please keep checking in!

Hidden AgendaI am currently reading a dramatic crime/thriller, ‘Hidden Agenda’ by Peter S. Berman. When Jeremy Hart, a senior prosecutor in the LA District Attorney’s office, has an affair with a young married woman, her wealthy husband becomes suspicious and is then killed. Detectives Gibson and Donahue are on the case and nothing is as obvious as it seems!

Enchanted Immortals 4: The Vixen (Enchanted Immortals, #4)Following Hidden Agenda, I will be reviewing two paranormal novels, Enchanted Immortals 4: The Vixen by C.J. Pinard and Tim O’Rourke’s latest release, Moonbeam ( The Moon Trilogy, Book Moonbeam (The Moon Trilogy, #2)2)!! You can check out my review of Tim’s Moonlight (The Moon Trilogy #1) and also my reviews of C.J.’s earlier novels, Enchanted Immortals (Enchanted Immortals Book 1), Enchanted Immortals: The Vortex (Enchanted Immortals Book 2) and Enchanted Immortals: The Vampyre (Enchanted Immortals Book 3)!

I hope that we have included some great books for you all to think about! Have a great week and we hope that you check in from time to time!

Mulberry (The Organization #2)Over the coming week or so I will be reading and reviewing the crime thriller Mulberry (The Organization Book 2) by SJ Sprague. Update from Caroline

Hi guys, we hope that you are all enjoying a great book at the moment. It would be fantastic to hear what you are/have been reading recently! I’m sure many readers in the UK have been enjoying the rare sunshine we have been having and soaking up the sun as well as a good story over this beautiful weekend.

17801498[1]-001So, last week at A Reader’s Review Blog we have had a great response for our Liebster Award nomination, thanks again to Sabrina from The Urban Book Thief for nominating us. If you haven’t had a chance to read some fun facts about Tina and myself, along with some answers we gave to some trivia questions, please check it out here. We have also announced the winner for our Werewolf Themed Wish List competition – congratulations to Emma Lynch! Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. And, in regards to reviews, we have posted our double review of Ann Logan’s ‘Charades’. This is a fantastic romantic suspense and thriller, involving love, deceipt and a great adventure across the globe and back with car chases, threats, kidnapping and murder, along with fantastic characters and a story that stretches back to the Second World War! shan-003At A Reader’s Review Blog we were also privileged to have author Shannon A. Thompson to write an author post to accompany Tina’s review of Shannon’s ‘Minutes Before Sunset’ novel. ‘Minutes Before Sunset’ is the first book of a young adult paranormal romance trilogy which tells of the elemental power struggle between dark and light.

THIS WEEK

The Mating (Law of the Lycans, #1)At the moment I am currently reading ‘The Mating (Law of the Lycans, Book 1)’ by Nicky Charles, which was recommended to me by one of our followers. Thank you! It is an excellent novel which ties in with our ongoing werewolf theme perfectly! As a Lycan herself, Elise is falling for her friend, Bryan. However, a pack nearby her fathers territory has just been taken over by a new Alpha, Kane, who is looking for a mate to help create an alliance between the two territories. As Elise’s father is her packs Alpha it is he who makes the decision, along with Kane and The Elders, for Elise to become Kane’s mate. Within a day Elise is mated and living with Kane! Where does that leave Bryan? Will she ever feel anything towards Kane? Can she live up to her Alpha’s expectations? I am loving this novel already and only a quarter of the way through! Look out for my review later in the week!

WaysToSeeGhost CvrMy following read will be ‘Ways to See a Ghost’ by Emily Diamand. Received by Templar Publishing gratefully in return for an honest and fair review, ‘Ways to See a Ghost’ is a young adult paranormal adventure, in which a young girl, Isis, the daughter of a charlatan psychic, can see ghosts! She has to try to use her ability in order to protect her mum from being led astray by the leader of an elite psychic society of which her mum joins! Gray, the son of a UFO-chasing conspiracy theorist, is there to help her with her quest! I will hopefully be posting my review soon, with Tina’s to follow shortly after!

Echoes from the Past - PART ONE - Harry (The Peggy Rodman Series)Meanwhile, Tina will be having a family break this week, however she will still be posting her review of Samantha Holt’s Borderland Beauty, a Medieval Romance! Tina’s next reads will be from author Sarah Colliver’s ‘The Peggy Rodman Series’ with ‘Echoes From the Past Part One – Harry’ and ‘Echoes From the Past – Eloise’ (alongside which we will also have an author post to accompany Tina’s reviews)! In book 1, Peggy, a likeable normal housewife,  is struggling to cope with the recent death of her mum. Coming across a secret hideaway she stumbles across Harry – a lost spirit in need of help from someone special –that someone is Peggy. Peggy is taken on a journey of discovery-a journey which awakens a part of her mind that has lain dormant, waiting it seems for this very moment. It will change her life forever. ECHOES FROM THE PAST - PART TWO - ELOISE (The Peggy Rodman Series)In book 2, we find Peggy as she attempts to re-join the world of work. Out of the blue she finds herself thrust back into her secret role as detective in order to help Eloise, a young lady from the 1890s who once worked at The Moreland Match Factory in Gloucester. Can she help Eloise to untangle the web of deceit which has bound her to an earthly existence? Will she be able to finally lay her to rest? Another journey of self-discovery for Peggy as she perhaps realises that her own life is not quite so bad after all….

That is all, for now, so until next time Happy Reading, guys! 🙂

Update from Caroline

Hello, readers! I hope you are enjoying the bank holiday, the sunshine and your novels! 🙂

Mere EnchantmentLast week I reviewed Alicia Rivioli‘s modern-day fairytale adventures, ‘Mere Enchantment (Book 1)’ and the sequel, ‘Rings of Enchantment (Book 2)’. In this Enchantment series, at the same time as being in a strange, magical  land with dragons and wizards and trying to learn their own abilities, Preston, Chloe, Jason, Megan and Zach fight to be reunited again and to free the Kingdom of Mere from the traitor, Jacan and his army! Along with my review, Alicia also took some time to write an author post. Thank you, Alicia!

The Silk Romance 333x500-001Meanwhile, Tina has reviewed a contemporary romance with Helena Fairfax‘s debut novel ‘The Silk Romance’. We would also like to thank Helena for also taking the time to write an author post to accompany Tina’s review.

In regards to our werewolf theme we have put together a list of recommended paranormal romance books featuring werewolves and we are also hosting a Werewolf Wishlist competition, asking for readers to provide us with a title/titles of any werewolf-themed books that you have read or been recommended,  in return to have a chance at winning a £5 Amazon Voucher (or the equivalent currency). To enter please visit our competitions page to leave your comment/suggestion. All suggestions need to be posted by Wednesday 29th May 2013. Thank you and good luck, guys!!

Our True Crime page was also added to our site. The book reviews that I add here will be saved only to the True Crime page and will not be posted on our main page due to the fact that they do not tie in with the majority of fictional books we read and review and because of their sensitive nature. However, as and when I review a book for this category we will mention it in our updates and possibly write a short post with the link.

lieber-awardOn a more fun note, A Reader’s Review Blog has been nominated by Sabrina at The Urban Book Thief for the Liebster Award! Bloggers pass on this award to new bloggers if they feel that their blog is worth viewing, but with fewer than 200 followers! To accept the award we must list 11 facts about ourselves, answer 11 questions from the blogger that nominated us and also nominate 11 other new blogs for this amazing award! Hehe! As a little bit of fun, Tina and myself have decided we would both post 11 facts about ourselves and answer the questions from Sabrina! More to come on this later this week!!!

Which leaves us with books that we are reading and reviewing this week! Well, Tina will be reading the recent releases ‘Minutes Before Sunset’, a Young Adult paranormal by Shannon A. Thompson, with which there will be an author post, and ‘Borderland Beauty’ by Samantha Holt. In the meantime, I have some catching up to do as I have just begun Ann Logan’s ‘Charades’. Tina and myself are hoping to post a joint review of this novel this week. My next book will be either ‘The Mating’ by Nicky Charles or ‘Ravaged (otherwise known as ‘Overwinter’)’ by David Wellington (which is the second book in David Wellington’s Werewolf series). Overtime, I will review both books. You can find my review of David Wellington’s first book in his werewolf series ‘Cursed’ (otherwise known as ‘Frostbite’) here.

Have a fab weekend. Caroline 🙂

New True Crime book review page

Hi readers,

I hope you have been enjoying our blog, our reviews and our recent Werewolf theme which will come to a close in the next few weeks! I have been reading an epic adventure full of fun, fantasy and magic in Mere Enchantment and Rings of Enchantment by Alicia Rivoli. The books themselves read beautifully as a Part One and Part Two and therefore I have decided to review both together. Hopefully my review will be ready for the weekend!

However, in the mean time I have also been preparing a new page for our blog based on True Crime. I realise many of you guys read to escape, however there are also readers out there that do take an interest in True Crime books. I have posted these on a separate page and therefore the individual reviews will not appear on our Home page but if you click on the True Crime link on our menu it will take you to the page. Any future True Crime book reviews will be mentioned in our regular updates as and when they are added to keep you posted! I do hope that you enjoy the reviews but please be aware that they are my personal opinions at the time of reading and although some opinions may be controversial it is not my intention to offend. Any comments will be welcomed.

The following books have been added to our True Crime page:-

Kathy’s Story: A Childhood Hell Inside the Magdalen Laundries by Kathy O’Beirne

The Cutter by Michael Litchfield

Madeleine: Our Daughter’s Disappearance and the Continuing Search for Her by Kate McCann

When Kids Kill by Jonathan Paul

Killing for Company: The Case of Dennis Nilsen

I would also like to thank my co-blogger, Tina Williams, for spending so much time on the blog whilst I haven’t been feeling quite right!

Happy reading, guys and gals 🙂

Update from Tina

Tina-001This week hot on the heels of my review of Eve Rabi’s Burn’s World, I reviewed her new release  You Will Pay – She Left Her Abusive Husband, He Took RevengeI can’t get enough of this author’s novels at the moment and could not resist reading this, which is currently free on Smashwords.

I found it to be a a somewhat darker read than Burn’s World and even Gringa. The main focus of the novel is how a sociopathic man seeks revenge on his wife who leaves him after he subjects her to emotional and physical abuse. The book has elements of a thriller, although it does contain some sweet romance.

I reviewed Nalini Singh’s Archangel’s Storm , which is another awesome read in her Guild Hunter Series. In it Jason, Archangel Raphael’s spymaster, is sent to the court of Archangel Neha to discover who has murdered her consort. To complete his mission, Jason is compelled to tie himself to the princess Mahiya, via a blood bond. Cue for a suspenseful and sensual plot!

I have read  Charades, by Ann Logan, a romantic suspense, where an innocent young woman finds herself in a web of deceit, where no one is who they seem, least of all the hero. I found this to be an entertaining read and I will be posting a joint review with Caroline soon.

Coming Soon

The Silk Romance 333x500-001I have just started to read The Silk Romance, by Helena Fairfax, which is her first novel, published by Muse It Up Publishing. It is a sweet contemporary romance, with a Frenchman as the alpha hero and is set in the romantic city of Lyon. I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this and I will be posting a review on May 24th. Helena has also kindly submitted an intriguing author post entitled ‘Romantic Lyon and Teenage Crushes.’

In the next few days we plan to post our recommendations of werewolf themed books we have read and we will also share with you those we have on our wish list! Caroline plans to post her reviews of  Mere Enchantment by Alicia Rivoli (followed closely by the sequel Rings of Enchantment).

In my usual fashion I am sure to be tempted by other reads which beckon me with their siren call!

Happy reading and have a great week.

Tina 🙂

Latest Reviews

17285847[1]-001This week I  reviewed Eve Rabi’s Burn’s World, which describes a love triangle between a mixed race girl called Burn, an all American guy called Brody and badass Trojan, who wants what Brody has had a taste of……  It is a great read full of humour, mayhem and emotional highs and lows, which I found to be compulsive.

I also started to read Charades, by Ann Logan, a romantic suspense, which sees a shy young woman, Mercedes Fuentes, take the opportunity to pay off much of her student debt by posing as  girlfriend to Wulf Rheinhart. Wulf needs a fake fiancée for a week to close a business deal. But is the  over-worked oil tycoon really what he seems or are more sinister forces at play?

For our werewolf theme I reblogged a review of Linda Mooney’s From Out of the Shadows, from our Sizzle and Burn site. We also examined Werewolves in Paranormal Romance and Caroline posted a reiew of A Night of Howling Dogs, by Henri Bauhaus.

Coming Soon

Next week we hope to post our joint review of Ann Logan’s Charades and we will be recommending werewolf themed books we have read and sharing with you those we have on our wishlist!   shutterstock Werewolf1_89654491-001

The following books are at the top of my ‘to read’ pile for the next few weeks: Archangel’s Storm, by Nalini Singh; Minutes Before Sunset; by Shannon Thompson and The Silk Romance, by Helena Fairfax.  Caroline plans to read Mere Enchantment by Alicia Rivoli (followed closely by the sequel Rings of Enchantment).

16691515[1]-002Drummer Girl, by Bridget Tyler

We were lucky to receive a proof of Bridget Tyler’s novel, Drummer Girl to review from Templar Publishing – click on the link to see our reviews. The novel describes  a coming of age story for a group of five London schoolgirls that wins the  semi-final of an international talent contest. When the band lands in Hollywood for the big final, things are not quite as they seem. The lead singer, Harper, just wants to use sex, drugs and rock and roll, not to mention the band itself, to win back her bad-news ex-boyfriend and the other girls, including Lucy, the Drummer Girl of the title, have to cope with all of the temptations that Hollywood and fame have to offer. Drummer Girl has now been released  and has a special website (click on the link) dedicated to it. The Drummer Girl blog tour is also happening this week, with author interviews and giveaway and Drummer Girl is also the skin on http://www.sugarscape.com/bookclub  for the week.

The Genie Ignites by Kelly Ann Zuzulo

Author Kelly Ann Zuzulo’s book, The Genie Ignites – click to see review, has been recommended among the top three in the Fantasy, Futuristic & Paranormal category of  The Abalone Awards, which recognize “outstanding ethno-cultural romance.” While Zubis is a jinni and Bethany is a human, the cultural issue in The Genie Ignites is the divide between her Western world and his Eastern view. But true love sees no color, sees no difference in how the heart loves.  The winner will be announced at the Romance Writers of America (RWA) National Conference in July and we wish Kelly Ann the best of luck. For more details of the book and the award see Kelly Ann Zuzulo’s site.

Special Offers on Books

If you are tempted to read the Captured Series, by Erica Stevens, now is a good time to buy it as the first three books in the series are on offer on Smashwords for $3.99. I have reviewed the first two books, Captured and Renegade and they were excellent and I recommend them if you like to read vampire romances. I’ll be reviewing book 3, Refugee soon and June will see the release of Salvation the fourth book in the series.

Happy reading!

My Recent Reviews

RacingWithTheWind_800px-001My most recent reads, the first two books in Regan Walker’s Agents of the Crown Trilogy transported meReganWalker_AgainstTheWind_logo-001 to the early Nineteenth century. The first, Racing with the Wind, to Regency London and post Napoleonic France, where Bonapartists and Prussians plot against the  restored Bourbon monarchy. In Against the Wind, the government, fearing revolution in England, instruct agents provocateurs to incite rebels in the North Midlands to act, to justify repressive measures quashing reforming fervour. Both novels feature fantastic romances between the author’s heroes and heroines, in tales of danger, intrigue and passion.

17401185[1]-002I also read Christina Phillips’ Betrayed, an erotic historical romance, set in Roman Britian, featuring a forbidden romance between a Roman Tribune and  a Druid priestess, whom he enslaves. It is a tale full of passion, where the heroine is honour bound to betray the hero and if she is discovered will pay the ultimate price.

As part of our werewolf theme I posted my reviews of the first two novels in Karin Tabke’s erotic paranormal Blood Moon Rising Trilogy, Blood Law and Bloodright.  The wolves in this series are definitely alpha and the heroine Falon, whose life is on the line, has special powers of her own.

Our Coming Reviews

17285847[1]-001This week I will be reading Eve Rabi’s Burn’s World (books 1-4), describing a love triangle involving a sassy, mixed-race, girl called Burn, a wealthy, white teen and an African American street thug named Trojan, who wants what Brody has and who won’t take no for an answer!

WolfstoneAfter reading and reviewing The Wolfstone Curse by Justin Richards, this week Caroline will be reading and reviewing Mere Enchantment by Alicia Rivoli (followed closely by the sequel Rings of Enchantment). These are fantasy fiction for the younger and adult reader alike where a group of friends end up fighting for survival. After entering a cave to shelter from a storm, more and more strange happenings keep occurring the further they go inside the cave. With magic, wizards and other strange people surrounding them, the group become separated and try to find each other in this new magical world. The new kingdom is also under attack from a traitor. Will the group become one again? Will they survive? Caroline is looking forward to reading this novel as the synopsis itself sounds very exciting!

Caroline also has a short story review to post on A Night of Yowling Dogs by Henri Bauhaus for our Werewolf theme and she is also hoping to begin a contemporary romantic suspense Charades, by Ann Logan which will be a part of a double-review with myself. Charades will most likely be ready for the beginning of the following week.

Have a great week  everyone!

Tina:)

Update from Caroline

Cursed: A Werewolf's TaleThis week we have added a double-review of ‘Addicted’ by JoAnn DeLazzari, launched our Lycanthrope Love-in/Werewolf theme with reviews on ‘Cursed: A Werewolf’s Tale’, also known as ‘Frostbite’, by David Wellington and Blood Law (A Blood Moon Rising Novel #1) by Karin Tabke. We also have a post on Werewolves in Myths and Legends and Early Literature.

A beautiful tie-in to our theme was the full moon and partial lunar eclipse on Thursday 25th April. We would love to hear your experience on this and would be happy to show any photographs you may have taken. You can contact us by e-mail at carolinebarker@ntlworld.com or tinawilliams1@ntlworld.com. Unfortunately it was very cloudy where we are in Tamworth, UK, and I couldn’t see at all!

Tina has posted her review on ‘Wanderlust’, Skye Warren’s new book. You can find her short review on A Reader’s Review Blog, however due to the adult content you can find Tina’s full review at Sizzle and Burn Book Reviews. Sizzle and Burn Book Reviews is a blog that Tina has created for the more adult/erotic book reviews and therefore it is recommended for 18yrs+!

Also, this week I have downloaded Tim O’Rourke’s podcasts on the Keira Hudson series. So far the first 10 chapters have been released from Vampire Shift (Keira Hudson Series One, Book One). These podcasts are FREE and available on iTunes. They create such a great atmosphere with the narrative and sound effects. As you may know, I am a huge fan of Tim’s and these podcasts compliment his work brilliantly. If you haven’t already begun to read the Keira Hudson series I would highly recommend it. These FREE podcasts would definitely be great to listen to and give you a taster on the style of the writing and the great characters that Tim has created!

WHAT’S COMING?

This week I am reading the currently unreleased ‘The Wolfstone Curse’ by Justin Richards, the Creative Consultant for BBC Books on the Dr Who titles. With it’s release due in July, Tina and myself are hoping to both write reviews – this week you have mine to read and closer to it’s release date in July, Tina will post her review! ‘The Wolfstone Curse’ is an action-packed adventure where teenager Peter, during time working with his archaeologist father in a remote village named Wolfstone, reveals the truth behind the werewolf myth! For adults and teenagers alike this novel is going to be a very, very exciting thriller!!!

Bewitching the WerewolfI will also be posting my review on Caroline Hanson’s short story, ‘Bewitching the Werewolf’. This is such a fun, quirky and hot paranormal little read. The local werewolf pack leader, Zach Connor, has been finding it difficult to find his mate. Without his mate, there will be no offspring and the pack will disperse. A witch, Megan Stephens, is hired to use her magic to help Zach find his mate! This is FREE on Amazon!

Also, this week Tina will be posting reviews on books 1 and 2 in Regan Walker’s exciting and passionate Agents of the Crown Trilogy. Book 1 Racing with the Wind takes place in 1816 and sweeps from the ballrooms and great houses of England to the majesty and instability of a Paris after the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy following the defeat and imprisonment of Napoleon. Master spy Hugh Redgrave, the Marquess of Ormand is called on to keep Mary Campbell, an impetuous and unconventional debutante, who is accompanying her diplomat uncle, safe from the nefarious plots of Bonapartists and double agents. Of course they fall in love, but there are many twists and turns in this exciting plot before a HEA is in their grasp.

In book 2, Against the Wind Sir Martin Powell, also an agent of the Crown, is celebrating the end of his spying against Napoleon, by spending the night in an exclusive London brothel. The courtesan he calls “Kitten” is in truth Katherine, Lady Egerton, a dowager baroness and the daughter of an earl. Katherine is fleeing a fate worse than death into Martin’s arms.  Martin too has known darkness and the couple soon find themselves involved in events in the English Midlands, where revolution threatens.

Next week, for our werewolf theme, Tina will also be posting a review of Bloodright, book # 2 in Karin Tabke’s Blood Moon Rising Trilogy, which continues the story of Falon, Lucien and Raphael. She will be looking at werewolves in film and literature as well as posting a review of Christina Phillips’ erotic historical romance, Betrayed, set in Roman Britain.

At the top of her ‘to read’ list are Eve Rabi’s ‘Burn’s World’, whilst I am hoping to read ‘Mere Enchantment’ and ‘Rings of Enchantment’ novels by Alicia Rivoli and ‘Charades’ by Ann Logan, which will also be a double review from Tina and myself but more on these in Tina’s next update!

Have a fantastic weekend and enjoy your reading!

Caroline 🙂
