**REVIEW** ~ Toy Boy, by Lily Harlem

Erotic Cougar Romance

Book Blurb

Toy BoyGetting something unexpected can be a shock, but it can also be a wonderful treat, if you allow yourself to indulge, that is.

Kay is bubbling with excitement. She’s booked a sailing holiday of a lifetime in Greece with a man she’s fallen for hook, line and sinker. They met on the Internet. She’s from Oxford, he’s from Washington State. She’s a business lecturer, he runs his own successful business.

They’re perfect for each other, and she can’t wait to meet him and spend time in and out of his bed, allowing him to seduce her for real and not just with softly spoken words over the telephone.

But when she arrives in the idyllic port of Fiscardo, she’s in for a shock. There’s a reason Sullivan’s photographs were grainy, and it’s not because he’s sporting a potbelly or balding as she’d suspected. It’s because he’s over a decade younger than her and could rival any Greek god in the looks department. What’s more, his sex appeal and lust for her is off the scale.

Should Kay take what she can with her ‘toy boy’ and have some fun in the sun or hop on the first plane back to England? It’s a tricky decision for a woman who believed she couldn’t be surprised by life anymore.

Sun Filled Sensual Adventure! *****

This is such a romantic and sensual read! Kick off your shoes, shed your clothes along with your inhibitions and indulge yourself in a sun filled sensual adventure. I must admit, the premise of Toy Boy got me all a quiver from the off, as Kay and Sullivan, who have been having an online relationship for over a year, meet for the first time in Greece. Imagine Kay’s shock and anger when she  arrives and sees that the man she has given her heart to is 14 years her junior. What is a woman to do?

Although Sullivan is drop dead gorgeous and Kay wants to rip his clothes off, she views herself a far too old for him and intends to fly back home to the UK as soon as possible. However, Sullivan and the magic of the Greek islands have other ideas…. Indeed, there are a series of deliciously decadent scenes on board Sullivan’s yacht as it ploughs through the waters of the Ionian sea. Sexual tension and passion sizzle in the Greek sun as Kay and Sullivan explore both the beautiful landscape and examine their emotions. Will Kay succumb to the attraction she feels for Sullivan or will she just enjoy the holiday and return home, leaving her relationship with Sullivan in her past?

I loved the character of Sullivan. He was determined to convince Kay that their age difference was not an issue and that they are soul-mates. I was really rooting for Kay to find a HEA with Sullivan and I adored how he encourages her to let go of her inhibitions and her pre-conceptions. I enjoyed the agony and the ecstacy of their journey and what a beautiful backdrop to their story!

I recommend Toy Boy to readers of erotic romance who are looking for a truly romantic read.

She is the author of The Queen of Swords, a darkly erotic Scottish paranormal romance/urban fantasy; The Tin Man, a political thriller; Devil in Duke’s Clothing, an erotic historical set in 1680 Scotland; The Duke’s Bedeviled Bride, the follow-up to Devil in Duke’s Clothing; Starry Knight, the first book in a new PNR/UF series; and Dark and Stormy Knight, book two in The Knights of Avalon series. Haven’t read book one yet?

My Review

Please note that this book contains scenes of spanking, flagellation, female ménage, voyeurism and dominance and submission. Also as it is difficult to review this book without some reference to book 1, Duke in Devil’s Clothing, it does contain some spoilers.

A Lusty Dose of the Restoration Period *****

In Nina Mason’s The Duke’s Bedeviled Bride, the scorching tale of love and lust between Robert, the dissolute Duke of Dunwoody and Maggie, his convent raised new wife, continues to unfold. I found it to be an exceedingly naughty and (at times) dark read.

After events in the previous novel, the couple are at an impasse concerning the nature of fidelity and Maggie is determined to ensure that Robert will remain totally faithful. I LOVED the wickedly delicious scenes of punishment in which Maggie ensures that Robert is fully aware of the depth of her displeasure! There is much tension between the couple but their love for each other is strong, despite the many trials they face in this novel.

This marital disagreement is the least of their worries, as with the unexpected arrival of Hugh, Robert’s younger brother, accompanied by his new bride, jealousy rears its head. It becomes evident that Hugh has his own agenda and all is not as it seems…. The drama takes place against the backdrop of growing unrest between Protestants and Catholics. Robert and Maggie are faced with a number of threats that test their very lives and love and help comes from an unexpected source. I will not say any more about the plot, but suffice to say that this erotic read was a real page-turner and I was wildly entertained throughout!

In particular, I adored how the author explores the nature of trust in the couple’s relationship and the fine line between pleasure and pain in some decadent scenes of dominance and submission. Nina Mason’s use of language in the book and her references to the religions, personalities and philosophies of the Restoration period, added significantly to my enjoyment.

If you enjoyed Robert’s and Maggie’s story in the first book, Duke in Devil’s Clothing (click on the title for my review), you will want to devour this read too. Recommended for readers who relish a heavy dose of eroticism with their historical romance.

Victoria thought that she would give anything for the role of Annabelle Hutchinson. She just didn’t realize what she would end up losing.

Book Blurb

Victoria Winstead. My parents are the reigning King and Queen of Hollywood and since I am their only child, that clearly means I am a pampered princess who is accustomed to getting everything I want, when I want it, and how I want it…and right now, I want the most coveted role in Hollywood. Only one thing stands in my way.

Grayson Leman. This bastard is the only son of the reigning Prince and Princess of Hollywood and I hate everything about him, always have and always will. Our families have a history and it isn’t pretty. It’s ugly, Hollywood style. Oh yeah, he’s the one thing standing in my way.

Annabelle Hutchinson. She’s the creation of a writing trio that has managed to rock the entire female population with their erotica novel, Dark Lovers. They have single-handedly brought mommy porn front and center and made it not only acceptable but sexy as hell. A movie deal was made and I am literally (this is embarrassing to say) having to actually fight for something for the first time in my life.

Not to worry, though…I am Hollywood Royalty.

Michael bit back a curse as he turned to leave the café, but Katie called out, “You really love her, don’t you?”
He looked over his shoulder. “Yes, I do.”
“Good.” Katie’s smile was unsteady, but it held. “Maybe I had someone like you after Raphael left me, I might have been okay too.”
“Does that mean you’ll tell me what Raphael did to Lily?”
She shook her head. “I don’t know what Raphael did to Lily. She didn’t tell me.”
“But that day, in the café—”
“When Lily and Anna fought? I told Lily what Raphael did to me. I thought she might understand. She did.” Her fingers twisted the hem of her T-shirt into a knot. “I needed someone to talk to, after all these years.”
Michael’s jaw dropped. “You haven’t told anyone? Not even your sister?” Katie shook her head. “I couldn’t.” She swallowed hard. “Raphael doesn’t hit. He doesn’t shout. What he does, it breaks you, on the inside. I couldn’t tell anyone; Raphael said no one would ever believe me, and he was right.”
“We would have believed you.”
“Would you?” Katie raised her gaze to Michael. “Didn’t you, like everyone else, once think that Lily must have done something terrible for Raphael to shoot her?”
Michael flushed.
She turned her face away. “Sit down, Michael, I’ll tell you what he did to me, and maybe it will help you reach Lily.”

“No, he’s not in a relationship of any sort.”
“Good, keep going.”
“He’s not looking for a relationship of any sort.”
“Well, neither were you, right?”
“Right,” Ariel said.
“So, no complications?”
The claw digging into her heart ripped a half-sob out of her.
Noelle’s eyes widened. “Oh my God.” She hustled Ariel into the ladies bathroom, which was mercifully empty. “What happened? What did he do to you?”
Ariel blinked back the tears that stung her eyes. “He thought I was rich.”
“So?”
“He was looking for a sugar mama.”
“So?”
Ariel said nothing.
Noelle tipped her chin up. “The Ariel I know would have thought it all hilariously funny. You’d have found a way to gently refuse him without damaging his ego— the way you turn down all those marriage proposals from men drinking their heartache away. So what’s different this time?”
“I thought he was different.” Ariel leaned against the sink. “He had big dreams, and he would never let anything get in their way, but he seemed to understand me. He helped me realize that my dreams were different from what I enjoyed doing.” She sniffled. “I wanted to be an actress, but auditions always made me panicky, which is probably why I flubbed every single one of them. I hated acting; I hated the pressure of having to say the right thing and do the right thing under the spotlight. He helped me realize how much I enjoyed the stuff I was already doing, like surprising people with mixed drinks that were just exactly what they wanted, and listening to people talk and learning about the world from them. He said I would probably enjoy bartending, and he was right. I do enjoy bartending. I always did; I just didn’t realize it until he told me.”
“And then you started falling in love with him, didn’t you?” Noelle finished quietly.

**RELEASE BLITZ** ~ The Para-Portage of Emily (Book in the Shadow Seduction Series), by Muffy Wilson (includes excerpt)

 Erotic Paranormal Romance

The Para-Portage of Emily
The Shadow Seduction Series
By
Muffy Wilson
@SexyMuffyWilson
Emily Macque, a young, beautiful junior partner in her father’s law firm, is but a heartbeat away from love or destiny. Duty brings Emily to a frozen Island estate two hundred and fifty miles north of Chicago. Devotion requires she delve into the property history to settle an estate probate. Death lures her into the arms of the shadows seduction created by the flickering light and dark shadows.
What flames the timeless passions spanning the decades? Love, desire or obsession?
Colin Jorgenson, once a Great Lakes mariner, is a strong man haunted by love and loss. How long will he return each night, gripped by desire, hoping to find the woman he has loved for a century?

Beneath the pristine Island beauty, passions hungered, lingered in the ardent darkness. His passions, fueled by decades of loneliness and longing, could no longer be denied. Will they face eternity together or love in secret as dark things are to be loved between the shadows and the soul?

I just finished The Para-Portage of Emily. Quite the
page-turner!!
I was gifted a free copy by the author and found it to be a
cleverly woven plot with descriptive characters you won’t soon forget. I’m not
one to give out spoilers,
but if you like paranormal intrigue, hot romance, and
mystery, you will love it. Looking forward to more works by Muffy Wilson as I’m
sure they will be just as brilliant.
“Tell me what you know about Mariner’s Maiden please, Kirby.”
Kirby took a long draw on his beer before he began his narrative. “It was years ago, around 1800 Miss Emily, when the original land owner arrived on the Island with settlers from Norway. He’d claimed five hundred acres on this southern point of the Island for himself. He became wealthy in cattle, wheat, timber and cheese. As his family grew and were educated on the Mainland, they moved, one by one, off Island. They were a wealthy, hard-working lot, but needed less and less of the acreage they owned. Much of the original plot was donated to the Town throughout the years. Some sections were sold.
“It got down to the last hundred acres when Colin Jorgenson bought the property, around 1890 or 1900. I am not exactly sure. The main house was much smaller and less grand than it is now, for sure. Now, Colin was a Maritime Captain and often he’d be gone for months at a time. He sailed the Great Lakes several times a year with supplies, spices, fancy goods and ‘fortunes of bounty’. That’s what they called it then. It was for sale to rich settlers throughout the Great Lakes. He’d earned all his wealth in trading by the turn of the century. He came and went
for several years until, in his mid-thirties, he met and married a much younger woman, Amalya, and came back to the Island with her.”
Kirby sat back, drained his beer and continued. “The property was called Mariner’s Cove then. He spent two years with Island tradesmen rebuilding this house for his wife. To honor her, and before his return to the water, he commissioned a maritime woodcarver to create the figurehead of Amalya you saw yesterday on the tree marking the entrance. He had the figure of Amalya mounted on the bow of his ship and apparently felt she was always with him in his travels. She died one summer, pregnant with their first child, shortly after his returning from his last trip of the season. He shut himself away in this house—a broken man, left forlorn and alone, to die years later of a broken heart as a recluse. It’s said he returns night after night trying to find his Amalya, his beloved.”
“But that’s just old folklore, Miss Emily, there’s nothing to it but made up stories from the past by gossips and romantics. This place has never been haunted—no one has ever said it was, anyway. Even though he was long dead, this property was held in Old Colin’s estate until your uncle bought it around 1955, I think. I suppose there is more you can find out at the Archives office in the Island library at the town offices, if you want. That’s about all I know and it ain’t much.”
Refusing a second beer, Kirby was off to finish his chores. “Thank you, Miss Emily,” Kirby said as he stood to leave.
Emily walked him to the door with Barkley in tow.
“Oh, there is one more thing” he added. “There is supposed to be a crypt on the property somewhere. I heard tell that Old Colin buried his Amalya in there and when he was dying, he crawled into it to die on her casket. Creepy, but no one’s ever found it to my knowledge—and between me and my dad, we’ve covered this property as caretakers for over fifty years.”
Emily extended her hand in gratitude for the information and company. “Thank you, Kirby. All of that is so very interesting. He must have been deeply in love with Amalya.”
Kirby, a middle-aged man, stood and shook Emily’s hand.
He turned to leave, stopped and dropped his head as he hesitated at the bottom of the steps. A simple country man, this time was no different.
“Miss Emily…” He looked up at her rather sheepishly, and stuttered slightly, “Forgive me, Miss Emily, if I offend you. I have been a bachelor all my life and never had a way with women or much of a need for them. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I like ‘em well enough, but I never was able to pick the right words in their presence. If…if you don’t mind my saying…you look an awful lot like those paintings in the house of Miss Amalya.”
“Oh my word, Kirby, how you flatter me! It is purely a coincidence, I assure you.” Emily smiled, as she dismissed the compliment and waved good-bye at Kirby. As he left, she thought about the love shared between these two remarkable people, Colin and Amalya. Amalya and Colin.
She had forgotten to ask what became of the baby…
This is a story to savor. Ms. Wilson’s descriptions are
poetic and enthralling,
placing the reader in the midst of the story, and the
relaxed pace of the story does not lessen the power of suspense. Shrouded in
mystery, romance, and eroticism, “The Para-Portage of Emily” is a
treat for the senses,
a haunting indulgence. Despite hints throughout, the
ending still surprised me, and though satisfied,
I regretted the literary journey’s end. Highly recommended.
I look forward to more from this promising
series.
Muffy, author of erotic, romantic stories about love, sex, hope and passion, was born in San Antonio, Texas, to traditional parents. With two older brothers, she was the youngest, the family “princess,”  indulged and pampered. She adored her older brothers, following them everywhere and was surrounded by love, stimulation, and pets. Her father was a career Colonel and pilot in the U.S. Air Force which required the family to travel extensively. The family lived in most points between Alaska and France. Muffy spent her formative years in Europe and came of age in France.
Returning from France with her family, Muffy finished high school in Northern California and attended the University of California, Davis, and majored in Business Management.
Muffy entered the work force, independent with a fierce work ethic, and retired at 39 from IBM as a Mid-West Regional Director in the Real Estate and Construction Division. She and her husband moved to a small Island in northern Wisconsin where they owned a historic tavern, restaurant and resort business which they since have sold. They now live a charmed life by the water in SW Florida.
Muffy pretends to be a serious real estate business person but, in real life, indulges her private interest in writing sexy novels and sensual romantic literotica ~ Live, Laugh, Love with Passion.
I really enjoyed the Para-Portage of Emily… a skillfully
and imaginatively told tale of love, lost and found. Mysterious twists kept me
turning the pages until the end.
Love conquers all, AND it was hot!

Should John Grisham and EL James have a secret love child,
she would no doubt pen legal thrillers with a luscious layer of the erotic.
They would name their child Muffy Wilson and send her to Stephen King for some
pointers in the paranormal.
Wilson, in the obliquely titled “The Para-Portage of Emily”,
interweaves these three diverse genres into a compelling, magic carpet of a
novel that takes Emily Macque from Chicago to a bitter island estate two
hundred miles north in the frozen sea. Emily is the striking junior partner in
her father’s law firm, her mission, to settle the probate on an estate, her
destiny to fall into the arms of Colin Jorgenson, a seaman haunted by a past
love that torments his life.
Intelligent, well-written, with fully fleshed out characters and a story with
more twists than a spiral staircase, “The Para-Portage of Emily” had
me gripped until the very last page.

To Tame the Wind, a prequel to her Agents of the Crown Trilogy and the first book in the Donet Duology, is set in England and France during the time of the American War of Independence, when France was a strong ally to the colonies in its struggles against England. Once again I felt that I had stepped back into history as I experienced what life was like on-board ship and on land in eighteenth century France and England. The machinations of war throw the hero and heroine together and also threaten to tear them apart.

Captor-captive romances are one of my favourite themes in romance. This read, where the devilishly handsome and swoon worthy Captain Powell seizes Claire, the convent raised daughter of a pirate, in a desperate attempt to recover his men and ship, is a super spin on the theme. When the couple meet it is not long before sparks fly and passion ignites, yet what future for a couple whose countries are sworn enemies?

Simon’s loyalties are truly torn in this novel between his growing attraction for his spirited captive and his commitment to free his men and reclaim his ship from his enemy, Claire’s father. He also has to grapple with the scheming of the powers that be who would use Claire as a pawn, regardless of her safety. I loved how protective he is of Claire and honourable he is towards her – but don’t get me wrong there are plenty of passionate scenes between the couple and sexual tension and emotions in particular are high! How will Simon be able to hand Claire, a woman whom he craves above all others, over to is enemy and to an uncertain future? How can he not when the lives of others hang in the balance?

Claire is a real firecracker of a heroine who upon meeting Simon begins to doubt where her future lies. Will she admit her love for Simon and if so how can she possibly avoid returning to her father and the land of her birth when so much rests on her safe return? Regan Walker’s characters and plot are as usual complex and I could not second guess if and how the couple would find their HEA.

While romance is well and truly at the centre of this read I loved how Regan Walker effortlessly and seamlessly immerses the reader in the real life historical events and personalities of the day. To Tame the Wind is once again a superb read for lovers of Historical Romance from this author.

A powerful stream of hot water hit the top of my head and separated down all sides of my body. Dark water swirled down the drain as dirt and dust was rinsed from my legs and feet. Falling off of me, and washing away down a deep dark hole.

I pushed wet hair back out of my face and took a deep breath, finally creating movement with my body. I was not sure how long I’d stood in Jake’s shower, staring straight ahead, feeling too separated from myself to move.
Come to think of it, I wasn’t even sure I could recall all details of the time between Jake finding me on the side of the road, and me ending up in his tiny apartment shower. Whose faded green walls were covered in golden-brown rust stains, but I did not mind.
Exhaustion and dehydration made me shake. Or was it the stress? My sight seemed to come in and out of focus, and I leaned forward against the wall in front of me for support. My forearms up against the gritty plastic surface, and my head resting between them. I looked down at my feet and cried softly.
Jake’s deep voice outside the door startled me, as if I had forgotten where I was for a minute, “Are you okay in there?” He sounded like he cared. He did care.
“I’m….I’m okay I think,” I tried to sound alright.
“Can I come in?” he asked quietly.
“Yes. Come in,” I told him.
I pushed back the shower curtain, completely exposed to Jake when he opened the bathroom door. He stood there for a minute, the two of us looking at one another. Me, naked and withering under a consistent rain. My lip quivered, and I looked down again. Jake walked towards me and took me into his arms. He, fully clothed, now sopping wet. And me, now half in the shower and half out, melting into his body. Not crying any more, just weak and empty. My body and myself, in two different places. Myself, an outsider now looking in at the scene that was my own.
“I’m sorry, Nel,” Jake whispered as he picked the wet hair off of my face. I sunk into him further. He held nearly all of my weight as my legs felt numb. Jake stepped into the shower with me, all of what he was wearing was now completely wet. My arms moved from around his neck down the sides of his body, and our hands met. I stood on my own and looked up at him. He smiled just a little, but it helped me. I leaned in to kiss him, and reached to the ends of his shirt to pull it off.
The pain in my heart had numbed me, but the passion the two of us shared brought some life back into my body. However, my mind was not completely present. I went through the motion of running my fingers over the ripples in Jake’s muscles. I felt his warmth as he pressed his body against mine, then the warmth of his tongue as he ventured downward from my neck.
I leaned against the shower wall, the water still pouring down over the two of us. Jake owned my body and became more aggressive with every sigh he forced out of me. Was this love, or was it just a sense of feeling? I did not know. I did not care. But now I understood what it all was for Jake, when sex with me meant fixing whatever consumed his mind. It had become a routine for us, a temporary form of healing. And now the roles were reversed.
Jake found pleasure in focusing on me. He was saving me right then. He was taking me to a better place, and I loved him for that. I assured him I was okay through my breathing, through the comforted sighs he knew I was there. Jake was incredible, more than he had ever been before. Maybe this feeling was perceived happiness, maybe it would be different tomorrow. But in that moment nothing else mattered. Jake had saved me from my own self, and under the warm rain I fell in love with him once more.

T. M. Sweetbriar was born and raised in central IL, and lived there until joining the U.S. Navy in 2013. Sweetbriar still serves in the military, and is a strong supporter of veterans and charities that support veterans. Where the Maple Leaf Falls was influenced by real people, in hopes to bring an understanding of what goes on inside the minds of those who’ve experienced tragedy. It is Sweetbriar’s first book, but certainly not the last!

Book #2 is in the works. (started a few weeks ago)! No cover/title yet, but this book tells Jake’s story. The two books can be read in any order, and will give readers a different perspective of each character. Jake’s story is being written with the help of a few combat veterans, in order to keep it very realistic.
